Very Cool Meter

Very Cool Meter

It's been years since i was a full time assistant and I lived by the old Sekonic L 358 on set. I paid 300 bucks 25 years ago for that meter and had an old cracked one for back up. Today, I paid $45 for a light meter that takes photos and video. Times are wild.

Teenager Social Life

Those of you with teenagers—how are you feeling about their social development so far? Trying not to live in the past too much and drown in nostalgia, I've been thinking about how different our teenage years were. We had the mall, unsupervised basement hangs, parks at night, places to just be a teenager without parents or payment involved. My kids have none of that. There's nowhere for them to be unstructured, unsupervised, unmonetized. Everything's either heavily moderated, costs money, or requires a phone. There's also no gray area anymore. There's no danger, no threat, no edge to the youth experience. When we were kids, hanging out behind Beckers, scheming about the rest of the day, maybe trying to get some weed or find a basement party—that was the stuff legends were made of. Now that kind of thing is just completely absent from teenage life. I genuinely love my kids and where we live, but I'm worried this is shaping how they'll build real human connections down the line. How are you all observing this with your own teenagers?

For those of you boom bap heads - this album slaps and near every song has insane scratch hooks. Shylow produced the whole thing and the cuts are next level - highly recommend. Bro needs some shine fr fr.
