RTS W&C DS Natural, 5” height, V-bar sole, Dr. Sole heel, and 1925 last. Picked these up during the last RTS 10% sale. I’m supposed to receive my Bayou Saffron pair on Saturday and I will have a decision to make, stick with the DS Nattys or go with the Bayou. Kind of a win-win. First day in a pair of W&C is no joke, not much bend in the boots yet, going to be a fun break in. Good luck to everyone who entered.

I really wasn’t planning on buying another pair, just received my W&C DS Mojave and am still breaking in my Aspen Acorn MTOs. Also, I have a pair of dome-pro on order (Bayou Saffron, is it real or a dream?). On Friday I did a quick look at the Ready to Ship options, usually nothing is listed in my size (10.5 D) that make me pull the trigger. This time I saw a beautiful pair of 5 inch MTO, 1925 last, Natural W&C DS. Then I looked at the price and was able to contain the urge. However, the very next day I get the 15% off In-Stock boot email. Now there is no way that beautiful pair of W&C DS Natural boots haven’t sold yet, right? right? I click the link and there they are, just hanging out waiting for me, 15% cheaper than they were the day before. How could I resist? 2 day shipping? W&C DS Natural? Hedge against the Bayou Saffron not making it in time for the Dome? Well, I pulled the trigger and will post pics when they arrive.

First of all, thank you to the Nicks team for the quality boots, I hope everyone is safe and the fires are under control. Don’t know how you guys kept working through the fires, but it is appreciated. MTO pair of W&C DS Mojave, V-100 sole, 8” height, 55 last, medallion toe, logger heel, and rolled top. My second pair of W&C boots and first pair with a V-100 lug sole. I ordered these after the announcement of the pivot to Hermann Oak. The yellow in the Mojave really comes out in the sun, just a beautiful leather. The W&C leather is stiff, the extra couple of inches make a huge difference. Lacing them up over the kiltie wasn’t easy, took a couple times to get them tight enough. They are going to take awhile to break in, not sure how anyone has the time or patience to break in a pair of 10” W&C boots. These boots are tanks, definitely overkill for my desk job but I love the look of the medallion toe cap paired with the V-100 sole.

Love my W&C DS Tobacco moc toes. This pair has about a month of wear, I’m loving the leather color, creases, and folds as it ages. Tobacco is a fantastic color. I get compliments on these every time I wear them. Thanks again to the Nicks team.

Thank you again to all the Nicks crew for the great product you deliver, especially in these tough times. My thoughts are with everyone in the Spokane area, hoping you stay safe. Just received my Aspen Acorn boots from the recent Odd & Ends sale. 6” height, 55 last, no pull loop, rolled top, 430 outsole, soft toe, all eyes, beeswax edge color. I love the warm color of the Acorn and was interested in the horse offering. I’m thinking about these for my dome boots, they should darken quite a bit with some wear, but it is going to be hard to put them in the closet for the next 2 months. Great stitching and finish as expected from Nicks. The smell of the leather is awesome and they really shine in the sunlight. I also like the texture of the leather in pics 8 and 9. Extra pic of my girl giving me the side eye for interrupting her sun time.

I am visiting Cuenca, Ecuador for 2 weeks and brought 2 pair of shoes, DS Tobacco moc toe Nicks and Hoka sneakers. Cuenca is in the Andes at 8,325’ ASML and I am walking everywhere, averaging ~15k steps during my trip. That may not seem like a lot to some people but I live in Florida at 0’ AMSL working a desk job where I have to really try to get my 10k steps in for a day. The only time my feet have hurt is the 2 days I wore the Hoka’s for early morning “workout” walks along the Tomebamba river. Otherwise, wearing my Nicks, my feet have been comfortable and stylish. Beautiful boots and leather.

Shoutout to everyone on this sub doing such a great job highlighting their boots, especially u/Dry_Turn_824 for his recent NBD Pacific Waxed Flesh in the PNW. I wanted to up my picture game for this NBD to highlight the W&C leather and fantastic quality of the Nicks’ build. This is my first pair of W&C DS boots, and everyone talks about how stiff W&C is and they are right. Ordered on December 7th and delivered on June 5th. Build is Tobacco, Parkhurst last, moc toe, rolled top, all eyes, and half sole. Jeans are Brave Star Savage Green Japan Selvedge. I wanted a pair of moc toes for the office in an Alden Indy style (but better than the Alden Indy) and these definitely hit the mark. I’m glad I got the Parkhurst last before it was discontinued but would have been happy with the 1925. These boots are going to be monsters to break in but the leather is gorgeous. Worth the up-charge in my opinion. It was a beautiful day in Central Florida and I love how the sun brings out the lighter colors in the Tobacco. Can’t wait to see how they patina. A big thank you to the Nicks’ crew for hand crafting beautiful boots, the quality is impeccable.

I am going through boxes getting ready for a move and found a bag of old political buttons. Most seem to be 1972 era. Lots of McGovern and Nixon pins, a couple of Carter/Mondale pins. An interesting one is Rufus Phillips, retired CIA who ran for Virginia house of delegates in the late 60’s. My favorite is the American Eagle with a tear coming out of its eye with the tagline “VOTE”. Seems appropriate today. Would a university or historical society value any of these?

Finished with the dome and am able to wear a pair of boots that have been sitting in the closet waiting to be broken in. Turquoise bison Ivan’s on the ‘67 last. Love these boots, the color really pops. Thanks again to the Nicks’ crew for their craft and attention to detail. This is a special pair of boots.

I have Nicks in Cognac Shackleton, Black Waxed Flesh, and Turquoise Bison. I have a pair on order (about to enter production) in WS Tobacco but I always had my eye on the DS Mojave and had to bite the bullet with it going out of standard rotation. I also didn’t have a pair of boots with the V-100 lug sole, so 2 birds, one stone. I am taking a chance with the medallion toe cap and V-100 sole, in my mind it is going to be awesome but I am hoping to see some pics before my change window opens. I’ve been searching through the Patina app but haven’t found that combo yet. Anyone else buy before the DS purge of 2026?
