i’ve had a really weird experience with my period this time.

i (18) have almost always been super regular with my periods. i got my first when i was 11 or 12, and even then i was pretty regular. my cramps have been very intense since the first period. i was on BC from 15 to 16, but stopped taking it after a while. my periods were the same before, during, and after the pill. lately, however, my cycles have gotten a little.. odd.

i traveled out of state with family a couple months ago, and we crossed time zones twice in one week. i’ve heard that time zone changes can effect a period, but this was my first experience with it. i was 8 days late, one of my cousins (18), was 10 days late. the next month, i was a day early. this month, i started on time, but i bled through 3 pairs of my period underwear and 10 heavy duty overnight pads in 24 hours. my period underwear usually will last me 8 hours total on a regular flow day. the second day of my period was slightly better, but i had bled through 4 regular pads within 8 hours. day 3 being today, i’ve only noticed heavy cramps and a very bad nauseating, dizzy feeling.

should i bring this up to my gynecologist, or am i just being a hypochondriac?

weird migraine attacks

i started emgality monthly injections, and it’s my second month on them. it’s been 2 days since i took the second injection, but since i’ve started emgality, i’ve been having worse migraine attacks with memory blackouts, drunk/high feeling and acting like i’m drunk or high according to friends and family, so much so that i’ve worried my partner because i woke up from a nap with what he said was a “rapid switch in personality” and he’d never seen me act the way i was. i don’t remember anything in the 45 minutes of me being awake after my nap, i just remember falling asleep and the next thing i know, i’m outside on the porch. my neurologist said everything i’ve experienced sounds like normal migraine symptoms as far as weight and appetite loss, insomnia, and weakness. my migraine attacks usually come with tunnel vision or tinnitus, but since i’ve started these injections, they’ve started with the severe “personality switch,” drunk/high feeling, and memory blackouts. i’m beginning to worry if i need to continue the emgality or not, but i’m also worried my insurance will deny everything until i finish out the initial 6 month trial period they basically forced me on.

tonight is my senior supper at my school, and my parents are going. my mom has almost always been there when it mattered. it’s very important to me, as senior supper is my last high school event before i graduate in 4 days.

i’ve been in my head all day about my dad going. he never goes anywhere sober, and i hate it. there’s a 2 hour stretch between him getting off work and my senior supper. my aunt told me this morning i need to call him and tell him if he’s not sober, not to come. even if it’s just one beer. i was telling her and our coworker how i’m scared something will go wrong tonight if he’s drunk.

his drinking has always gotten in the way of important things, and i’ve been living a life of anger since i realized it felt like he cared more about the alcohol than he did me. my moms side of the family knows how much it’s put my brother, mom, and i through, but i was the only one out of the three of us to step up and try to stop it, to make my dad realize how much it hurts everyone.

i want to tell him not to come to senior supper if he drinks tonight. i want the same thing for my graduation. how do i tell him this?
