The perfect breastfeeding dress... Let me explain (not my Vinted item)

The perfect breastfeeding dress... Let me explain (not my Vinted item)

This is such a good dress that gave me confidence to breast feed anywhere. Let me share with you my knack!

The fabric is super stretchy and if you pull the armpit fabric inwards to the middle of your chest you can then pop the baby on the boob before placing the shoulder fabric back in place. No one can ever tell I'm feeding but the baby is visible to me and not covered. I found mine in a charity shop but Vinted has quite a few up, I just bought a second!

The make is Apricot and it is called a Ruffle Bardot Dress

Indoor Swimming Outfits

I am taking my 10 week old to her first swimming class on Saturday. The pool is 30-32 degrees. I have my swimming nappies & 2 reusable swimming nappies at the ready, but what should she be wearing over the top?

I have bought a swim suit with a zip and sleeves etc, and I have a traditional costume. I obviously need to keep the baby warm but I also don't want her to overheat. Any advice would be much appreciated to help build my confidence!

Night time burping.... Milk or snot?

We have a 7 week old that struggles to lay down again after her night time feeds without sounding like she has milk rattling in her throat. I currently burp her but stop after 20 minutes whether or not she has burped. Lots of methods that normally work during the day time don't work at night.

She does not cry, arch her back etc.

I can sometimes lay her in bed, hear the noise, pick her up and carry on burping just for her to once again lie down and make the throaty milky noise.

It has been keeping her awake, and me.

Any advice would be appreciated. I mentioned at the 6 week appointment and the doctor said it was probably snot?

Graduation & my 'tips'

This sub has been so informative and supportive. I want to share my birth story.

37, general easy going 1st pregnancy. No sickness, regular dog walking, 50th percentile baby. I was at risk of preeclampsia (Low Papp A) so had more growth scans etc. They did not want me to go past my due date. I had a sweep at 39 + 2 and I was in complete shock about how much it hurt and bled. 40w and I was booked for an induction. 24 hours of pessary induction, more cervical inspections and I couldn't cope with the pain. After a lot of tears and discussion I decided to request a c section and was booked in for the following afternoon. I still blame that sweep.

Healthy & happy girl born 40 +2 via c section.

Here are some of the things that could be useful for future graduates

- Decide on a game to play during the c section. We played the a-z game where you have a category and bounce answers. A= Aerosmith B= Backstreet Boys. We got to X and heard the babies first cries. No awkward silences & reduced my partner's worries.

- I wasn't prepared to meet such a good looking little baby. I don't know what (or who) I was expecting but omg how did I actually make something so stunning when for 9 months one of my hobbies has just been 'chocolate'. I never thought I'd be a mum.

- The 2nd night tears and tantrums. I sent dad home to sleep and I stayed solo to get midwife advice & more confidence. Dad had a great night sleep but only one of us was tired today to keep everything together and get baby home.

- The amount of wipes a baby needs. If you go by a shop, buy the wipes!

- Meeting so many lovely staff and not remembering any names to thank them personally on the card. Memo to self in the future write down names

- Mens cotton boxers are my future until my wound heals

- Crying with joy is now a think I do.

- The pain- keep on top of those pain killers. In hospital you need to request, not just assume.

- coffee... I am allowed more than one coffee again.

Here's to our first night as home 🍼🍼 cheers to you all & enjoy making your own story.
