So I’m stuck in the infamous hardware founder gap between prototype and mass production.

after countless nice conversations with alibaba sellers i decided to take matters into my own hands and i‘ll be flying to shenzhen 03rd of September.

i guess my question is do the kind of small workshops that handle this actually exist in Shenzhen, and where do you find them? Huaqiangbei or are there only sellers?

I’m developing a fairly simple wearable consumer electronics device. working prototype exists and functions, I have video of it running but i won‘t have it with me for reasons…

i already have a functional prototype built by an external engineering firm), full CAD, PCB schematics, layout, Gerbers, Firmware source,…

I need functional units for validation with early customers. Not mass production basically just a pilot batch that looks like a real product.

any pointers on where to start, or what I should line up before I get there, would be hugely appreciated

i have developed and patented a modular high end device optimized for nasal surgery recovery.

Market & Core Pain Point:

there are over 4 million nasal procedures performed annually (including aesthetic rhinoplasties, septoplasties, and reconstructive surgeries). According to clinical post op surveys over 90% of these patients state that severe dry mouth and the resulting sleep deprivation are their absolute number one complaint during the first weeks of recovery.

this problem is caused by 100% forced mouth breathing due to internal nasal packing, swelling secretion etc…

blue ocean product. current market alternatives are saline sprays, gels, or lozenges which completely fail because they require the patient to be awake to use them meaning sleep is constantly interrupted every single hour.

the device uses ultra sound to deliver targeted, continuous hydration directly to the breathing zone while the patient sleeps.

I have positioned it strictly as a personal care/wellness device in order to completely avoid long medical regulatory bottlenecks.

The numbers & monetization models:

Direct Sale (UVP): €499 (Estimated COGS at scale: ~€80 via anodized aluminum, PVD-coated accents, modular base ecosystem).

B2B Rental Model (Recurring Revenue)

Instead of just buying, clinics can rent the units out to patients for their 1 or 2 week recovery window. This opens up a highly scalable recurring revenue loop for us through specialized sanitization kits, refills and maintenance cycles managed after each rental.

Current State

Patented. Phase 2 mechanical CAD finalized. Functional high-end prototype (C-Sample) is fully operational and built.

IP/Entity

Operating via a clean US LLC with multi-currency banking set up.

Distribution

Instead of wasting capital on facebook or google ads, we use a pure B2B2C loop. We partner directly with private ENT surgeons and plastic surgery clinics.
Whether they choose the direct sale or the rental model, the clinics get a 40% cut.

Since the surgeon has 100% of the patient’s trust during post op consultation, a direct recommendation drives the utilization.

Looking for angels or strategic partners with experience in consumer electronics scaling, tooling/manufacturing funding, or medical/wellness distribution to back the first production

i’m a solo founder with a tech/recovery startup based in Dubai and just finalized the high end prototype of my hardware device.

the device is aimed at the premium personal care market, economics are strong with high to very high margin (from what i was able to research).

I already have a solid b2b pipeline in a very niche sector for the first batch (consisting of international specialists in this very niche)

since the product development is done and the market interest is (at least) validated i’m now looking for seed capital to fund the first production run and set up the corporate structure here.

my question now: what’s the most efficient way to connect with local angels, vcs, or tech networks in Dubai for physical products?

if possble i‘d like to avoid the generic online application black holes if possible.
