how do i report a student for non-emergency?

there is a student who has been stalking me and following me even after i messaged her and asked her to never approach me or talk to me again. i have also caught this student using AI for an assignment i used to have with her (i got permission to work on my own and leave her group). i'm really fed up with her behaviour and she's not just making me uncomfortable, she's making 2 of my other friends uncomfortable as well

this is in the Davis campus btw

can i bring my own scrubs for PVETT?

i heard that the ones the school provides are scratchy and not that great. i’m thinking of buying my own scrubs to go with the 2 that they give u (i also don’t wanna be having to wear ones i already wore for the week).

if i can bring my own, does if have to be navy blue/royal blue, or can it be any colour?

neighbour’s cockroach infestation is getting out of hand

my neighbours are unhygienic people and have a cockroach infestation because they neglect their dogs (who are more than a year old) so their dogs piss and poop indoors, especially when no one’s at home.

as a response, my family’s apartment and everyone on my floor have had visits from specialists who do cockroach removal treatments at least 4 times. m the outcome is still the same.

my room gets the most cockroaches in a day and it sucks because i have OCD so every time i go to bed i’m scared one will crawl into my ear or nostrils while i sleep. i also worry for my dog’s health and hygiene because of these cockroaches.

my dad and several other tenants have complained many times to our superintendent but management is useless. the superintendent is in office like 2-3 times / week and she doesn’t seem to care as much. the cockroaches don’t just get into our apartment, they are everywhere in the hallway and even get into the elevators (if they’re able to get across the crack).

i made a report to RentSafeTO about the infestation. my building’s lobby has a green rentsafe sign and it’s very misleading.

there are also so many other issues with these neighbours i won’t get into about. the handyman of our building told my dad that it’s impossible to come into their apartment because it’s disgusting. one of the pest control people who came to do cockroach treatment told my dad that he has a hard time with our neighbours.

i feel disgusting and dirty in my own room which i maintain well organized and clean and i’m forced to deal with these cockroaches

EDIT: i just checked my request on 311 and this is what it says - "We confirmed this issue is a bylaw violation. We sent a formal legal notice (Order or Notice of Violation) to the owner. This requires the issue to be fixed within a set timeframe. Timelines vary and depend on how complex the violation is, any risks, and if follow-up is needed. If not addressed in time, we may take further action like issuing fines."

i'm hoping this will do something. i didn't expect the inspection officer to show up so quickly after making my report!

update: i got accepted for vet tech fall :)

just putting out an update for those who gaf. some of u may have seen me asking questions on this subreddit about the vet tech program. the chances of me getting in as a late applicant + mature student were very slim but i got accepted today! and i got the offer pretty quickly.

i was rly hoping i would get in because there's a waitlist for the fall program but i guess i was high on the waitlist. my high school GPA is 84% and i passed the science CAAT-D and did pretty well on the math CAAT-D.

if you're a mature student and/or you're also applying for this program for this fall feel free to ask me questions. i'll try to help as much as i can! i can also help u if u applied for winter. what i can't help with is admin stuff or mature student testing (academic integrity yada yada), but i will say that if u have a disability u should really take advantage of the accommodations u can get at the assessment centre if u register with accessible learning!

thank u to those who saw my posts and helped me with my questions. shout out to the admission officer who helped me throughout the whole application process :)

i think the assessment centre may have maked my test wrong?

i studied very hard for the CAAT-D math assessment, and i remember finding the test very easy. in fact, it had easier questions than the mock tests i did and the material i studied. i got back 23/48, just one point below passing mark. i am so confused because i was sure i'd get at least 70%.

i could be wrong, maybe i did fail the test after all, but i need to make sure. is there any possible way to contact the assessment centre for the campus i took the test at? i want to make sure they didn't confuse my scantron sheet for another person's. the proctor at the centre did take multiple sheets at once and he shuffled them around when collecting the papers from everyones sheets.

i'm devastated because i just need to pass this test for the program i really want to get into. i passed the science one, which was harder for me, so i'm not sure what happened.

maybe i filled the scantron sheet wrong by accident.

would i be able to retake it?

EDIT: before i got my results back i had a very strong feeling that something like this could happen because of the way the proctor collected my test and others' tests.

CW: trypophobia | would my habit be considered skin picking? (NSFW cus it's kinda gross)

for some background: when i was younger, i did the typical skin picking where i would pick at mosquito bites or make indentations in my skin with my nails. i was able to resolve this by keeping my nails short and having something else in my hand to entertain me

HOWEVER

in high school, when i was 17, i found a new way to pick at my skin by pressing pens into my skin. the hole of the pen tip would cus suction and if i pressed hard enough, it would cause a blister/puss bubble. i've been doing this ever since and have moved on to bigger sized holes like for eraser pens, which are pens but instead of ink it's an eraser that comes out once u press the button. it's something artists like to use to erase smaller areas.

my main target area are my legs, feet, and sometimes my hands. then after it's healed and the scabs are dry, i go with my craft knife and peel off the dried scabs like i am peeling old paint. over the years the scars have left darker pigmentation spots and i am very insecure about it. i am using a product from the ordinary to help get rid of these spots.

i have tried to eleminate the use of pens that have a hole for the ink, but the pens that work well for me are those. they help me stim and fidget (i am autistic) + i already have issues with people infantilizing me because of my ASD so i feel more like an adult when i use these kinds of pens to write notes.

even if i ditch these pen types tho, i will still find a way to find a hole small but big enough to do what i do.

a lot of these events are triggered by anxiety or needing to stim. i really like the texture when i have multiple bubbles because it feels like i'm rubbing something bumpy. if it's on my knees or finger, i like to rub it against my lips because of the texture.

i know how to help the healing process. what i don't know is if this is considered skin picking. i need to know what to tell my doctor so he can refer me to a specialist. i take 25mg of cipralex which helps me with my anxiety and i'm starting antipsychotic medication for my OCD (which might also be causing this horrible habit).

i would love to know if anyone has done this in the past, and what your advice is. overall i would just like to get opinions and thoughts from people with skin picking disorder and what i could do to stop myself.

it’s hard to get help or find resources at sheridan

i am really frustrated at the lack of resources there are. i’m at a point where i feel like crying because of how hard it is to get help with anything

i’m in the discord server trying to get in contact with mature students or vet tech students. idk if i’m getting ignored or the server is just inactive. i had to go to the vet tech facebook to asks questions. someone did help me and provided really valuable information but my posts have to get approved by an admin before it’s posted. mine hasn’t been approved for more than a day and the question i asked was really urgent, because it’s about testing i’ll be doing on monday

it’s impossible to communicate with the accessibility services at the davis campus. our back and forth communication is awful. i booked an appointment but i tried to move it, and that itself is impossible. they asked me to confirm a date and i responded days ago yet no response. i won’t be seeing an accessibility advisor in time for my
mature student testing to try and get accommodations.

there are barely any resources online for the CAAT-D tests. the samples questions sheridan has aren’t enough. they don’t even put a full sample test as an example and i’ve seen here that the test has questions that u wouldn’t expect because there are no sample questions that will prepare u for them. everywhere else i go for resources, i have to pay an unreasonable amount just to access a pdf file to practise. i have to rely on chatgpt and i hate having to rely on AI, because it’s not accurate. i’ve had to look at george brown’s CAAT-D resources.

asking questions on this subreddit is hard. finding answers on this subreddit is hard. i made a post asking about waitlisted programs and 300+ people saw but didn’t get a single answer. i’m autistic and just need further explanation for these things, but i feel really stupid for asking

don’t get me started on calling sheridan’s campuses. the service is terrible. i get kicked out of the call bc their phone lines are “full”. my service hub ticket hasn’t been answered and i made a ticket there a week ago for a question an admissions advisor answered for me within 2 days. the admission advisor i’ve talked to has been my only help.

the applicant portal is a disaster. idk what happened with my applicant account, but for a while it wouldn’t even show me my admissions. i had an international student account for some reason (i’m domestic). i’m having so many IT problems too. some websites i should have access for show me an error code. i’ve considered going to the IT service desk in person but i have so much going on in my personal life right now that it’s very hard to go to any of the campuses at this time.

i’ve even resorted to asking on quora even though that website is full of bots. i’ve scoured sheridan’s pages and there aren’t enough resources or information.

all i wanna know is how the waitlist works. i’m a late applicant and i still have to do my mature student testing for me to even get an offer. but i checked last night on my program’s page and the fall 2026 spots are now waitlisted. i didn’t even get an email for that, so i’m not sure how it works for existing applicants and new applicants. all i know is that they keep you on the waitlist until september 5th.

the program i applied to is waitlisted on the website

hey guys, i applied for the vet tech program for fall 2026 and i'm taking my mature student tests on monday. i haven't received any emails about waitlists or anything, but the program page says "waitlisted" for this coming semester.

does this mean new applicants will be waitlisted if they decide to apply now? or does this mean all applicants including those who applied before the waitlist are waitlisted? i haven't received an email about it and nothing has changed on my applicant portal.

i am really anxious about getting into this program. i did apply for winter 2027 as well but i would rather start soon because i don't wanna be stuck doing school in the summer.

What is on the CAAT-D science test?

i am taking the test Monday to hopefully get my test scored before the program i applied to fills up. i am cramming lessons starting today until Sunday but there aren't enough online resources for me to study and i only took grade 11 bio in HS

are the accessible learning emails AI?

i’ve been having a back and forth with the Davis campus ALS email to try and move the appointment i have with an accessibility advisor but i’m getting nonsense replies. i’ve had to tell them 3 times that the link they give me to move my appointment isn’t working for me (it doesn’t accept my shernet account for some reason) just for them to send me the same link

accommodation for CAAT-D math / mature students

if you're autistic and provide documentation, can you get accommodation to use a calculator for your assessment as a mature student? i am autistic and i have a hard time focusing on math problems. it requires a lot of time and i'm worried that will slow me down because the test is ~40 minutes. i can't do long division or multiplication in my head as well as someone who is neurotypical because of constant distractions and running thoughts in my head

urgent mature student question.. pls help

i applied for the vet tech program 2 days ago as a late applicant since the program is still open. i already received my student account details and login. i submitted a support request but my answer is urgent and whenever i call the 2 numbers for the service hub, they tell me that their phone line is full.

if you're a mature student who applied to the program (or similar programs that require testing), how was it? did u book the appointment yourself or did u wait for admissions to email u and tell u u need take take this test, etc.?

i found the assessment booking page for mature student tests like CAAT-D science and math but i don't want to book it yet because i haven't got an admission update yet

mature student late applicant to vet tech (fall 2026), i have some questions!

i'd appreciate if any of these questions received answers. thank you :)
(the program is at the Davis campus. my bf is going there for social services, and the campus is only 20-30 minutes away from me. he is fine with picking me up and driving me there on days we both have classes! thank god)

  1. any vet techs? what's it like?
  2. for field placement: is it common to get placed far away from home? i live in etobicoke but i'd like to be placed at vets near me if they're accepting
  3. rate the program from 1-10 (difficulty, if it's fun, etc.)
  4. what are benefits for Sheridan students? e.g. McMaster students get free access to their gym as part of their tuition
  5. any success found after completing the program?
  6. are u a mature student and got into the vet tech program? do u know if any other mature students got in?
  7. i also applied for animal care, in case i don't get accepted for vet tech. how's that like?

▲ 5 r/yorku

late applicant for history and psychology (3 days before deadline), i have some questions (SERIOUS ANSWERS ONLY PLS!)

if anyone could answer any of my questions it would be really appreciated!

  1. what are the benefits of being a student? I went on a McMaster tour for my brother and he has so many benefits (like a free gym and 90-minute free rides on rental bikes). I know YorkU is not as prestigious but what do students have?
  2. what's student life like? I'm a mature student (21F), is it easy to socialize with others?
  3. i have credits from OCAD U for mandatory first year English and 1 - 2 art history classes i took, would these help?
  4. any previous late applicants here who got accepted and been to school already? what was the process like?
  5. any tips for me if i do get in?

what can i do in york?

me, my boyfriend, and my brother are 18-23 and we’re looking for fun things to do here. the city is a 30 minute walk from where i’m staying. i looked up online what we can do but a lot of recommendations are to visit pubs. i’m looking for something that people in our age group would enjoy that doesn’t involve drinking.

we are going to visit museums which i’m really looking forward to but i’d like to hear from locals
