chat gpt

Wondering what this sub thinks about utilizing chat gpt or other AI resources with OCD recovery.

Genrally I am wary of using AI especially with anything healthcare related. However lately I have used chat gpt as a resource in dealing with my relationship anxieties and rocd and have been surprised at how actually helpful it is, not for reassurance, but more to work through the actual concerns underlying my rumination.

I have gone to therapy in the past and found it extremely UN-helpful, because what I need are actual tools and not just talking about my issues. When I share stuff in chatgpt it gives me helpful questions and exercises to practice that have genuinely helped alleviate my anxiety and also I feel more empowered to deal with it on my own in general - because its not just making me feel better its giving me tools.

However I would never want to become dependent on this for reassurance and that's where I fear the pitfall would be. Because it admittedly does make me feel better, and that can be kinda addictive. Wondering what other people think about this topic. Please share!

ps also please don't use this discussion just to blast me for using AI period. obviously there are other concerns around AI but I wanna discuss it in this context

what social issue or group do you wish star trek would include that we haven't seen yet?

For me its choosing to terminate a pregnancy. Whenever someone has an unexpected pregnancy, they always choose to have the baby. Now I'm *not* saying this is bad in itself but it would be interesting to see a character choose to terminate a pregnancy alongside this, not as an ethical comparison, but just a different choice.

It's interesting to me they will tackle lgbtq in lots of ways but I have yet to see star trek include a woman who would choose not to have the child.

What issue or group would you like to see included in the show?

For those who've experienced improvement, what was your treatment path?

I don't have an official diagnosis but I am seeking one. I've been to therapy many times in my life and found it mostly useless as an actual treatment. After a therapist suggested I had OCD (which was helpful), nothing actually got better, and the strategies didn't work for me. So I'm crossing my fingers hoping that an official diagnosis will open some doors.

I just want to be able to date and be romantic without suffering in hell.

For those who got their tubes tied: how was the experience and have there been any long term side effects?

Wasn't sure the sub to ask this on, so hopefully this is alright. Basically the title.

I'm 30 and have never wanted children. I haven't tolerated the common female birth control options (the pill/hormones). I've considered a copper IUD but the risks concern me and I'm frankly horrified at the idea of that insertion without anesthesia.

Am planning to discuss further with my OB. I'm curious about tubal ligation. It's permanence really appeals to me, but I know there are risks.

why "nu trek" and not "new trek"?

not to start a fight, but I've noticed that when people are really salty about the newer shows they use the term "nu trek." vs when people actually like the newer shows they say "new trek."

What's the deal? is "nu" supposed to be derrogatory? Where does that come from?

Girl Interrupting

Hey everyone. So I was a shy/quiet kid growing up and had super bad social anxiety from my teens to mid twenties. By super bad I mean struggling to form sentences, voice shaking, fear in the grocery store, "brain freeze" etc. But it has improved a lot in my late 20's and I'm super proud of my progress.

One thing I have noticed though, just in the past couple years, is that I'm interrupting people. It's not on purpose exactly. At first I thought it was me not knowing when to chime in because of inexperience with conversation. But it doesn't happen as much with new friends. It's typically with people I've known for years.

I think what's happening is that I suddenly have much more to say and things I want to contribute to the conversation, and these people who have known me aren't used to that? I also realized I have some anger about being talked over for years, so there's a weird satisfaction when they stop talking and listen to me. After it happens, I usually just say, "sorry I cut you off" after I've finished saying my piece. But I don't actually feel bad about interrupting them.

I was curious if anyone else has had this happen? What do you guys think?

DS9 Finale - help I'm having big feelings

Oh. My. God.

Starting off strong with shirtless slutty Julian? Thank you very much.

Garak, Damar, and Kira becoming an unstoppable rebel trio of the streets?

Garak mourning over his homeworld to Julian? His love for Cardassia literally seeping out of him? Telling Julian how much he'll miss having lunch?

JULIAN TELLING MILES THAT MILES LOVES HIS WIFE BUT LIKES HIM MORE?

Nog's promotion to Leutenant? Nog saying well done Father??? Leeta beaming at her dorky big eared husband???? Quark staying exactly where he belongs: his bar?

WORF KILLING THE EMPEROR OF THE KLINGON EMPIRE? And telling Ezri she's in love with an overgrown child?

Odo finally joining his people? He was never my favorite character, but this made me tear up despite the dated effects.

I just have one real question. Sisko. Do we ever find out if he comes back to build that house on Bejor with Cassidy and their baby?

What a show. 100/10.

what potential future medical concept, therapy, technology, tool, etc from star trek fascinates you?

Mine is when they do surgery without physically cutting or entering the body. Just watched an episode where Bashir does some kind of brain surgery on this girl with ?lasers? Just find the idea of that really cool. Not sure if there's anything remotely comparable to it currently.

inversely, what' something they do or say that makes you chuckle cause it sounds ridiculous?
