Just finished Fulgrim... poor Ostian and Serena...

I was rooting for them to end up together. And then they did...

All horrible jokes aside, a great and at times genuinely scary book. Also, I wasn't expecting to like Ferrus and the Iron Hands as much as I did. RIP king.

(Yes that includes First Heretic.)

Galaxy in Flames left such a sour taste in my mouth but I’m so glad I gave FotE a go. I loved learning about pre-fall Death Guard legion culture and seeing how the lodges stirred up the resentment of the Emperor that became the Heresy.

The intra-Legion clash between Grulgor and Garro’s factions was very well done and felt so believable. I honestly hate Grulgor more than Erebus at this point - he’s just an insecure bully on steroids and the way he bullied Kaleb was telling.

The scene where Garro has to decide whether to shoot down Tarvitz or not was genuinely nail biting- I knew they were both going to make it but the pressure radiated off the page.

Very pleasantly surprised - I’m going to put Buried Dagger and James Swallow’s other books on my TBR.
