Dell Customer Cares has strung me along for weeks now

I have an active warranty with Dell and sent my laptop to them for repair of it's thermal issues. They tried getting more money from me by sending me an estimate for other issues they claim were not covered by the warranty which I declined. I am not interested in paying them yet more money for optional repairs.

As a result they have kept my Alienware laptop and have apparently not done any of the repairs. I have been in touch with them, but they just assure me that they are "monitoring the situation" or (better yet) "we've been trying to reach you unsuccessfully."

I have been a Dell customer for about 30 years. This is seriously making me reconsider my relationship with Dell.

Doesn't it seem like the health care industry has prioritized length of life over quality of life?

Some of the suffering that I have seen in the elderly's later years seems so cruel at times. The loneliness that comes from seeing your friends all die off before you and the inability to get out and make new friends is almost inhuman. The pain and weakness that comes from getting older minimizes who we are.

Sorry, I know that there are no real "good" solutions. We are all managing the best that we can with the tools and abilities at our disposal.

I had to take a break

75% done with a re-write of my first book and 95% done with editing of book 2 and I'm burnt out. I realize that I am not going to do my best work when I feel like I am pushing myself to get the work done, so I am taking a break. It feels difficult to do when I am so close to hitting another milestone!

3 times the math didn't "math"

I’ve been thinking about Shroud’s "half sounds better" line lately, and I’m starting to think it’s not just a one-off burn against Blazer—it’s actually his entire personality. There are at least three other times where the math is intentionally "wrong" just to fit a certain vibe.

>!1. When Robert notices there are only 3 heroes left to dispatch, he complains that "half the team is missing." But if the full Z-team is 9 people, having only 3 left means two-thirds of the team is gone. Mathematically, 66% of the team is missing, but Robert calls it "half." It’s like Shroud’s influence has totally warped Robert's sense of scale. Saying "half" makes a literal catastrophe sound like a manageable setback.!<

>!2. When he’s messing with Robert’s father’s gun, Shroud tells Robert there is a 16.5% chance of him getting shot. Obviously, a standard six-shooter has a 1/6 probability, which is roughly 16.66% repeating. Shroud clearly chose 16.5% because it sounds like a calculated, professional statistic, whereas 16.6% sounds like a messy fraction. He literally trimmed the decimal for the sake of the "sound."!<

>!3. In the beginning, Toxic says Mecha Man’s shields are at 40%, and Shroud corrects him to 28%.Toxic is doing the classic "half sounds better" move here—40% is close enough to 50% that it feels like they’re almost halfway to a win. Shroud, being the ultimate buzzkill, immediately shuts it down with the actual, much uglier number. It’s a really cool character detail.!<

Anyone else caught more of these? It feels like the writers did this on purpose to show how Shroud manipulates the "feel" of a mission.
