Yall were right

So I had made a post with a poll for what book I should read next. {Highland Hideaway by Lily Gold} won in a landslide. I'll be honest and say that I didn't think the book was gonna be as good as it was. Cartoony coverart usually gives me a bit of ick but I can see that I can't judge a book by it's cover. Literally.

I was 100000% wrong!! All the hype is valid for this book!! 5☆ read for me! I suck at writing reviews but wanted to give an update for my previous post.

MMC discovers the FMC self harms

I was scrolling Instagram and got a blurb for a book where the MMC discovered the FMC cuts herself. At first he was furious that someone had hurt her. When she didn't answer he realized she does it to herself. I think it was HS but I'd prefer if it was a college/uni setting.

I love non-con and power imbalances. Extra points if its professor/student or any age gap tbh. I dont really have any TWs. Id prefer no OW drama but fake flirting to make the FMC jealous is okay. As long as it doesn't go past that.

Vote on my next book

Im currently on book 11 of {Rise of the Illiri by A.H. Hadley} and definitely gonna be feeling some book hangover. I started the series on july 18th and will probably finish it up tomorrow or the day after. I've been reading the series for a whole month!! I genuinely don't know what to read after. Ive gone through my list and these are the ones that jumped out at me.

{Knot Your Fate M.U.S.E. by Avery Song}

{Kept by Evelyn Flood}

{Lords of Pain By Angel Lawson & Samantha Rue}

{Soul Code by Blake Black}

{Highland Hideaway by Lily Gold}

Medicated FMC

As an SSRI girlie I'm curious if there are any recs where the fmc takes any mental health medication. Even if she doesn't at the start but gets help and starts taking medication by the end of the story. The closests that comes to mind is {Double Play by C.L. Rose}, but fmc goes to therapy instead of taking medication.

Likes:

Age gap

Mdom(s)

Wounded bird FMC

Overbearing mmc(s)

I usually prefer darker stories but def not a requirement

Dislikes:

Pregnancy and kids, it's fine in the epilog or towards the end but prefer it not to be the driving plot device

OW drama

Im not crazy about mafia but will read if the rec fits

Some MM is okay, I prefer the focus to be on the fmc but will read if the rec fits

I have next to no triggers as far as the story goes either.

For every rec I'll reply a picture of one of my cats as thanks

Does this book even exist?

Okay, I was on tiktok and one of those AI generated videos popped up. I dont like AI but that's a whole other discussion

Anyways! The video featured a FMC who's mouth was sewn shut and seemed to be held captive. Then an FBI agent MMC. The video then cut to them at an unspecified later time.

The caption and single comment are in Russian so that's no help. I dont even know if the book exists or a plot past what I mentioned. Anything similar would be greatly appreciated!

Link will be in the comments if that helps!

Tips for Rise of the Illiri

I'm not gonna lie, I'm intimidated by the 11 books in the series. My mind keeps coming back to the concept and I'm gonna start it. Are there any tips for keeping everything organized since its a high fantasy series? I saw someone say to make a list once family members start being introduced

Thank you in advance!

Daddy kink with innocent FMC

Ive been in a daddy kink mood recently and having trouble finding stuff that really hits the spot. I read {More, daddy by Daisy Jane} and loved the dirty talk West uses but was left wanting a little more spice. I read some Q.B. Tyler but those also didn't really hit the spot due to there not being such a big power imbalance. I DNFed {Babygirl by Korey Mae Johnson} but that was probably due to me about to start my period. I think I got to around 60% through it.

Likes:

•Noncon/dubcon

•Age difference

•low age play. Id rather the FMC be innocent and naive when it comes to sexual situations but would be okay with her playing it up for a scene, etc.

•somno

•bondage/restraints

•wounded bird FMC

•any number of mmcs is good. I prefer to keep MM to a min if there is some.

•forbidden/taboo relationships

•heavy spice. Im okay with little plot

•power imbalance

•impact play

Dislikes:

•pregnancy being the main plot point. It's okay at the end or in the epilog.

•permanent bodily damage from the mmc(s)

•Diapers in the age-play

•fade to blacks, I want all the smut and spice.

•third act breakups

•miscommunication

I dont really have any triggers besides the 2nd point in my dislikes. Thank you in advance for any and all recommendations🩷

Vampire recs

It's my time for the monthly massacre and I'm craving some vamps. Id prefer the FMC to be human, or believed to be human, at the start and eventually become immortal so she can stay with her men. I tend to prefer darker books but its not a requirement. Big plus if there is a dom sub relationship between the mmc(s) and the fmc

What I dont want is overt OW drama. A little jealousy is okay but the men should be reassuring. I lean towards no MM but a little is okay as long as the main focus is the FMC. No pregnancy or kids please, epilog is okay though.

I've read {Elora by Beanie Harper} and found the concept cool but the fmc was a bit cringy at times. Really enjoyed the bdsm of it though. Ive also read {Broken Bloodlines by Sadie Kincaid} and loved the story of it.

I can't wait to see what is recommend!

DNF correlation

Ive been noticing a trend with myself that when I'm close to starting my period I dnf books like crazy. I'll pick a book that I've added to my list but then just lose interest in it for no reason.

Currently reading {Swipe Right for Monster by R. O'Leary}. I thought the concept was cool and seemed cute. Now that im actually reading it I find that I'm forcing myself to pay attention. It's not even anything that the book has done wrong, I simply wanna nap lol.

Has anyone else noticed a correlation in their DNF habits and being in their luteal or period cycle?

Please tell me if there is pregnancy

I recently started reading {Second Chances by Letty Frame} and am on book two. I get its slow burn but am really hoping that the spice kicks up a bit soon. My attention is starting to drift.

Anyways, I was looking at romance.io and saw breeding as a tag. Then looked at book 3 and saw pregnancy. I dont mind pregnancy in the end or the epilog but I was curious if someone could tell me HOW MUCH of the plot revolves around pregnancy.

Dipping my toes into shifters

I've read books with the occasional shifter. I think the closest thing I've read is probably {Her Vicious Beast by E.P. Bali} or {Fawn by L.V. Lane} . Besides the occasional shifter in harem I've not ventured too far into shifting. I do love omegaverse so I wanna take the next step.

What to keep in mind

•I dont really have any triggers but prefer to avoid OW drama.

•I usually tend to avoid mm but if the blurb interest me enough I'll read it. I just like to know before hand and prefer the main focus to be the fmc.

•No pregnancy or kids. Epilog or ending is okay but I dont want it to be the driving point for the book.

•I'd prefer everyone in the harem to be a shifter but they dont have to be the same kind

Can't wait to get yalls recommendations

Omega purrs

Im looking for OV books that feature omega purrs in their world. Alpha purring is very common compared to an omega purring. I really like the difference between the two. The alphas usually have a lower frequency versus the omega having a high one. I dont know why but it just scratches an itch in my brain.

•I've not really read many shifter books so I'd like to keep those recs to a minimum unless its a really good book.

Even if you can't remember if a book has omega purring I'll take some OV recs.

Question about WITSEC

I just started WITSEC book one and was curious if the story is told only through Shiloh's POV?

I usually prefer multiple POVs but am willing to try since everyone raves about this series. I dont wanna look at the other books on romance.io incase something gets spoiled
