Looks like the TD Canada app can now be used to approve logins!
Almost a year ago, thanks to an unexpected Phone replacement/upgrade, I wasn't able to move my TD Authenticate app over to my new phone because they stopped allowing new phones: https://www.reddit.com/r/TDBankCanada/comments/1o7blxq/td_authenticate_app_unsupported_account/
Well, looks like as of the last few weeks, they finally built and enabled a TD Canada app feature, at least on iOS, to approve logins from a computer! Hurray! TD has finally caught up to RBC and others who have been doing this for years.
The only issue is that there are bugs that make this very clunky; ever since getting my new phone (a year ago), the TD Canada app always requires a TOTP via text/call after signing in with Face ID. With this speedbump, you can't just follow the TD app notification to approve the login as it'll get stuck (it refuses to send me the TOTP and keeps asking me to try again in a few minutes) and you have to force quit the App, re-open it and sign in manually, AND THEN see/approve the login request.
I have reported the constantly-needing-to-OTP issue to TD Customer Service many times in the past year, each time they tell me it'll just go away after a while, and it's been a year. Never used to on my old phone, and doesn't for other families and friends using the TD app.
Anyways, at least some good news!
