Borrowing limits

Apologies if someone already shared this information. Feel free to delete if that’s the case.

There was a post a few days ago about being blocked from borrowing due to exceeding an unknown checkout limit.

I checked with my Overdrive rep and apparently they have updated the limits recently, apparently revising them downward.

There are basically two triggers for the block, activated by the limit you hit first, both evaluating checkouts over a 7 day period. On day 8, checkouts from day 1 would fall off the rolling limits. I do not know if magazines count towards this limit.

The triggers are:

  1. Borrowing 15 times your library’s checkout limit in 7 days OR
  2. 50 checkouts during a 7 day period.

Edited to add: my understanding is that it is 50 per library system/consortium rather than across all cards. If someone finds out or experiences differently please share!

Hope this helps!

Consumer advocacy attorneys?

My husband and I find ourselves in need of a consumer advocate attorney (I think) due to being screwed over by a car finance company refusing to give us a title for a car we fully paid for several years ago. (We didn’t realize there was a problem until about 6 months ago.)

I reached out to Gibson, Watson and Marino, as Google said they handle consumer issues. Are there any other local firms that do this sort of work? Or if there is another sort of attorney we should be looking at, I would like that information too!

We will be reporting the company to the Consumer Advocate division of the DAs office too, but I would like the title in hand before we do that.

Resources for finding a part-time nanny/house manager

We have used Care.com in the past for hiring babysitters/part-time nannies several years ago and we had significant issues with reliability.

Does anyone have recommendations for local staffing agencies that do things like background checks and reference checks?

I contacted Kansas Household Staffing already but they are temporarily not doing nanny placements.

After school care is the priority but house management options would also be of interest to see if we can afford it.

Thank you!

List of flooded city streets?

Is there a way to see which streets and intersections are flooded?

I’m supposed to go from the far west side (off of 13th) to the Old Town area and I know a few of the roads I usually take were flooded last night.

Edit: In case anyone needs to make a similar drive, 13th to Zoo to Central to Old Town was fine. 4-5 stalled cars and a few that had floated into a green space along Zoo. But otherwise roads were clear!

Edit 2 at noon: now there is water covering 13th between 119th and 135th, which wasn’t there this morning. Still passable, but all of the ponds/fields in that area looked super close to the banks.

Play therapists?

It has been recommended that we take my recently diagnosed ADHD 7 yo daughter with separation anxiety to play therapy, but none of the places I contacted (several days ago) have responded.

Does anyone have any recommendations? Preferably on the west side, but we can make it to other areas if needs be.

Problems getting title on formerly leased, now paid off car?

My husband leased a Santa Fe in 2017 and we made the decision to purchase in 2022. We financed through a bank rather than Hyundai and paid the car off in 2023/2024. When my husband went to renew his registration, we realized we had never received the title.

We have called Hyundai and they acknowledged they never sent the title and said they would, but haven’t yet (it has been more than two weeks).

Before I start doing battle over the phone again, has anyone else experienced this? If so, how did you get it resolved?

I finished my 35 sessions in early December and was measuring significantly better on paper at the end of my treatment. I was still feeling pretty wobbly mentally though, with some significant downs.

About two weeks ago, I felt like something in my brain clicked and my baseline mood jumped up several points. My lows have been manageable and I’ve rebounded quickly.

Has anyone else noticed a significant difference 4-5 months post treatment? I feel like this should be too late for an improvement, so wanted to see if anyone else has experienced a difference this far out?
