How to mitigate side effects of Vyvanse?

Hey guys, I'm currently on 30mg Vyvanse + 5mg Adderall IR booster (I only take the booster on days I really need it, not every day). I've been noticing some side effects and was wondering if anyone here has experienced similar or has a solution. Also, some other general questions/concerns I have.

Side effects include: severe lack of appetite, lightheadedness (esp. when standing up from bed or sitting), headaches.

The severe lack of appetite I know is a common one. But I literally can't bring myself to eat. The food starts feeling like mud in my mouth and it's so hard to get it down my throat. I was 118-120lbs (around 54kg) and now I am at 112-113lbs (around 51kg). For context I was already thin as I am 5'7" (170cm) and any lower than this weight is hugely concerning to me because I am at risk of losing my period and also very prone to vasovagal syncope (fainting spells). When I was this weight a few years back I had lost my period, started fainting everywhere I went, all sorts of issues. The issues lasted for months after I got my weight back up as well. I'm worried I'm inadvertently malnourishing myself.

The lightheadedness is definitely from a significant iron deficiency that I have. My iron levels are very low despite eating lots of iron-rich foods, and I have tried to take supplements, but I fail to take them regularly and the levels deplete quickly. I feel like the lightheadedness and dizziness get so much worse than baseline on the Vyvanse, though. Without Vyvanse, it's 1 or 2 seconds of slight dizziness, but with the Vyvanse, my entire vision blurs for 5-10 seconds and I have trouble staying up without bracing myself on something.

Headaches, I feel like are a little more common but this is not the worst symptom by far. I also notice it more when I take the Adderall booster as opposed to the Vyvanse. Is this normal?? I just don't want to take painkillers or any kind of extra medication while I'm on such a heavy med like stimulants (esp. stuff like Tylenol because taking both stimulants and Tylenol would overwork my liver).

Other questions: I'm really worried about oxidative stress on my brain. I've been trying to have more antioxidants through whole foods (acai, blueberry) but again, appetite issue. I have looked into supplements but it looks like people on here recommend like 20 different supplements so I am pretty confused about it all. I do take Magnesium Glycinate when I remember to. My sleep hasn't been too bad without it, I usually sleep a full 7-8 hours though that may change when I move to my new job. So I guess just wondering if you had a top 3-5 supplement list to take for oxidative stress and other side effects, other than Magnesium Glycinate, what would they be?

Another question: How the hell do you guys remember to take supplements?! I remember my Vyvanse because I function wayyyyy better with it. But how are people managing to take 10 different supplements AND hitting their protein intake AND exercising AND hydrating AND managing their lives?! I feel like I have ADHD Pro Max compared to you beasts. (To be clear, I am complimenting you all and amazed by your ability to do all of it.)

Why is Joe repulsed by Love and then repulsed by Kate?

Rewatching S4-S5 and I just have a burning question- Joe is repulsed by Love in S2/3 when he finds out that she wants to keep killing. But then in S4/5, he's mad and repulsed by Kate when she wants to... not keep killing?

Clearly Kate has already accepted him for his darkness and past. But he literally begs her to use him as a hitman, and then recoils when she refuses. This is such a huge difference in behaviour from when Love wants to kill or cover up murders with him in S3.

A huge theme of Joe and his love interests is that he wants them to accept him, but still be "pure" (not as evil as him). He couldn't accept Love because she was as evil as him. (There is an argument for Kate also being just as evil but she's not going around lobbing people over the head.) But Kate accepted him and also wasn't as outright murderous, and that seems to be all Joe wants, and yet, he's still disgusted. How does this make sense?

I understand that a major point is that Joe will never be satisfied. But the rationale for not being satisfied just doesn't add up to me. Is this a legitimate plot hole, or do I just have to shut my brain up and watch?

AITAH for going to see a movie with a man who's not my bf?

I (25F) have a friend/mentor, a friendtor (late 40s M) that occasionally I hang out with sometimes. Not often, maybe twice a year for personal hangouts. The rest of the time I only see him if we are working together. Sometimes I will pick up work equipment from him, but usually he just leaves it outside his home and it's a no-contact pickup situation so we don't see each other then. We became friends because he was my mentor when I first entered my career in 2021 (he was college alumni and my professor's friend). It is completely platonic and not at all flirty in the slightest. We both work in the same department in the film industry so some of our hangouts include watching the latest movie, it's not like we're out on a movie date or anything. We sit, watch the movie, and make some comments when it ends. After the movie we leave in our respective cars. Sometimes we will eat, sometimes not depending on our schedule.

I also have a boyfriend (31M), and my boyfriend and this friendtor have met before- we have all had dinner together. I have never been dishonest about my relationship or lied to either of them. So when I go pick up equipment, I let my bf know, and I'm very vocal about being with my boyfriend with friendtor. Friendtor does not mind one bit and respects our relationship 100% because again, there is NOTHING going on between us. Boyfriend also seemed to respects with my relationship with friendtor.

Fast forward to a few days ago, I let my boyfriend know that I was going to go see a movie with friendtor because friendtor and I both like the director and wanted to see the new release. I told boyfriend ahead of time and said, "if you feel uncomfortable with these plans, don't worry at all, please tell me and I will either cancel or reschedule on a day that you can come". Boyfriend told me, "I do feel a little weird, but it's okay, I want you to have friends and your social life. Go ahead and go." I reassured him that it was friendtor and that nothing inappropriate would happen and that I would update him if he wanted. He told me to go ahead and enjoy.

So today I went. Saw friendtor, grabbed a bite before going to the movies. Saw the movie, said our goodbyes, and left. I called boyfriend immediately after on my way home. Boyfriend initially seemed fine, but kept making little jokes/comments about me going on a "movie date with another guy". I told him it wasn't a date at all, reassured him again, and tried to ask about his day or get another conversation started. The conversation somehow always got back to me going on a "movie date". An example of how this went is:

Me: You want to maybe play a game after you're done with [XYZ]? I missed you today.
Bf: Did you really miss me?
Me: Of course I missed you baby!
Bf: Did you really, because you went on a movie date with another guy... maybe I should go on a movie date with another girl...

It kept going like this until I called him out eventually for being passive aggressive, and told him that if he was uncomfortable, he should have told me before when I asked him or at least told me straight-up after instead of guilt tripping me to feel bad about going after I already went. I told him that I gave him several options to make him feel comfortable and make his boundaries feel like they were a priority to me, and he should not be giving me a hard time through passive aggressive comments after the fact. We got into an argument because he said that me seeing another man 1:1, regardless of who that man is to me (aside from family), is uncomfortable for him. He also said that he agreed because he didn't want me to feel like he was being controlling or to ruin my plans, and that the weirdness didn't fully register until after I came home. I told him that the boundary was 100% OK with me, and that I wouldn't make 1:1 plans with other male friends anymore, as it's not a big deal to me. But it wasn't OK to be passive aggressive when I gave him several options and plenty of time (DAYS!) to think it over and be honest with me about his feelings, and also gave him reassurance before and after the fact.

Here's where I think I may be the asshole: he has expressed that he was uncomfortable with me seeing a male friend before, but that was early in our relationship and with a male friend that was NOT work-related or a mentor, and it was also because I told him he couldn't come with (my friend did not feel comfortable with him being there for whatever reason). I have not gone out 1:1 with another man until today, and that other friend has since moved far away and we don't see each other or talk much anymore. I may be the asshole because I did go 1:1 with friendtor. But with all the context added, I thought it would be okay since boyfriend literally told me to go and enjoy myself.

TL;DR: Made 1:1 plans with a male friend/mentor to see a movie since we both work in film. Tried to make bf feel comfortable, he told me to go, but he gave me shit afterwards and we got into an argument.

starting to realize i kind of hate my coworker

i work at a private healthcare practice once a week and i'm moving jobs (HALLELUJAH) to a field that is in my own career path soon, so honestly none of this matters but i just have to rant.

so there is some very important context here:
- i didn't have any experience in healthcare when i got this job. i actually also never asked for this job. i have a separate career, but my boyfriend's parents run this practice and asked me to come into their office so that i can learn the basics of the business and help them out so that they can ask me for help on days i'm free, when they're short-staffed.
- i trained from the bottom up, learned the business quickly, and eventually made it to the front desk to help manage the office alongside my bf's mother and 1 other staff member (let's call her Ari).
- ari and i rotate between the front desk duties and helping the other staff out for procedures when they need it. ari is medically trained through schooling and i am not, so i legally cannot help with certain procedures & tasks.

ari was nice in the beginning, but the entire staff knew from the beginning that i was the daughter-in-law of the bosses. i did not know that they knew in the beginning, so i kept it a secret since i knew it could be a source of tension. eventually i found out and it was all out in the open, and for a while things were fine.

it's been about 8 months since i first started coming into the office, and now i'm starting to realize that ari is.... a hater, in a nutshell. the first couple times, i brushed it off and chalked it up to her just being frustrated about the day or in a bad mood, but now i'm seeing a very consistent pattern and i'm getting very tired of it all.

some things ari has done over the past months:
- she's made me do all the "menial work", as in the work she herself does not want to do. this i understand, because she's more experienced than i am, and i'm not averse to work so i'm happy to do those things.
- she's been very rude and dismissive to me when i ask her questions about the job.
- she's excluded me out of conversations that happen in the workplace, right in front of my face. she's blatantly shut me out of the conversation even when i'm just trying to be nice and partake in small talk.
- every time i call or talk to a patient, she makes comments about how i'm doing it wrong. i could say a simple "please let us know if anything has changed regarding your appointment", and she will critique it by saying something like "you don't have to say that." (despite the fact that we LITERALLY need to know those things)
- she will snatch papers out of my hand, take the files i'm working on as if i didn't already finish the task (i have had to tell her "i already finished these" because she kept taking my work). and if i'm given a chart, she will hold out her hand as if to say, hand it over.
- she has berated me for calling a patient she already called, even though she did not note that she had called them already and i would have had no way to know that the patient was already contacted.
- her tone to me is incredibly rude. like, blatantly. she has a completely different tone with the other staff members.
- the other staff members ARE nicer, but there are moments when they all participate in ostracizing me. whatever.

it all came to a head today when i was discussing insurance with Patient A over the phone. i had confirmed that my information was correct both with their policy & with our office manager (my bf's mom). ari contacted Patient A while i was doing something else and gave them incorrect information about their insurance because she hadn't checked the policy correctly. our office manager, who was upset about the situation, had to step into my desk and clarify with A because they were about to cancel their appointment. meanwhile, i was fielding insurance questions from another patient (B) from ari's desk, so i was looking up insurance information for B.

ari comes up behind me and starts backspacing out the information i'm typing, saying "i already have Patient A's information up". i have to tell her, "this is for a different patient". she rolls her eyes and says "oh. well can you get out of my desk? i have to do something." so i step out of her desk, and she proceeds to... write a note on the schedule. my office manager leaves after clarifying with Patient A and i return to my desk. ari then checks the conversation i was having with Patient B and turns to me, asking (IN A VERY RUDE TONE), "are you making sure that all this information is accurate before you talk to the patient?" ....as if i was the one who gave Patient A inaccurate information. it all just seemed like she was taking her mistake out on me and trying to pin the blame onto me, just because she couldn't handle that she was in the wrong where i was right.

by this point, i'm pissed as well and i just continue doing my work until the end of the day because, well, it's a work environment and i'm not here to deal with petty drama. this isn't even my career!!!!! so the vibes were off for the rest of the day, but i still have to communicate with her as we work the most closely together, so i do. at the end of the day, she makes it a point to spite me by clocking EVERY OTHER STAFF MEMBER OUT except for me. (this is relevant because it's sort of tradition for the staff to clock each other out at the end of the day).

it's important to note that i NEVER say much about being so closely tied to the Dr's family. i don't hold it over anybody's heads and i do not act like i'm any better than any of the staff because i'm not, and i know that i'm actually more inexperienced in this field than they are. i treat this like any other job and i work hard and do my best every day. that being said, it's not my fault that i picked it up quickly- why hate..? also, objectively (i may sound like an asshole saying this), but why would you be a Bitch to someone you KNOW is closely tied to the family. plus i have a very robust career outside of this practice with a wide network and i would have been happy to bring people up with me. why would you be a Bitch to someone who could potentially also uplift you and recommend you to the higher ups in better career paths?

thank god i'm moving to a different company where i get my own office and don't have to deal with someone riding me all day. my god, it should be considered sexual harassment the way she's looking up my ass.

tl;dr i'm a competent nepo baby (?) and my coworker thinks being a raging bitch to me is gonna solve her problems.

Any suggestions on a career switch that might be good for me?

For context, I have a B.A. in Film & TV Arts. minor in Communications (degree received 2021) and an M.A. in Communications (degree received 2024). I've been working as a freelance film creative for the past 5 years, but (IYKYK) the industry is struggling, hard, and I'm looking to make more of a "corporate" switch as set work is no longer financially sustainable. I worked in the camera department and also as a freelance writer & graphic designer, and outside of that, I've done smaller jobs here and there, but freelance film work has been my main source of income. My work outside of that includes teaching, administration, and marketing at an agency, all "entry-level" except teaching. I did that throughout college and grad school and have been a solo lecturer. I've had a public speaking background my entire life and have been pretty closely tied to the communications sector so I'm looking to transition to that field.

Ideally, I'd like to be in a role that has upward growth, so not necessarily something like teaching where I would be in the same position for the rest of my career. I live in a high-cost city so I'm aiming to end up earning around $100k-$200k (obviously not right now, but down the line).

I've been considering and applying to the PR field, because I think it could be a great fit for me given my background in writing and the creative fields along with my administrative work and experience in a marketing agency. Plus my degrees align, but no luck so far in my applications. I've also been considering making a switch into HR because a lot of the students in my grad program transitioned to that sector and I feel that I could be a good fit, but I have no experience in that field. I'm open to doing internships, but many of them are for college students only and also no luck so far for the ones I have been able to apply to. I'm wondering if there are sectors that I haven't considered yet that might be a good fit for me to transition into since I seem to be having no progress in the two fields I mentioned.

I'm kind of stuck because I don't really see a way for me to make a switch if nobody is hiring and I have little experience in the corporate world compared to a lot of my peers out there. I used to be making good money and I was deeply passionate about what I do in the film industry, bringing stories to life (some of which have probably been seen by you, and I am grateful and humbled to have brought you entertainment!), but I just can't sustain myself any longer on freelance work. Please comment with empathy if you are going to comment- I don't seek advice here to be made fun of. I am truly struggling to find a good career path to transition into and I would appreciate genuine advice from all of you.

TL;DR: Worked in freelance film for 5+ years, trying to make a transition, potentially into the corporate communications sector. What paths might be good for me?

Got fired today and got a great reminder.

Just your humble AC's friendly reminder not to let people walk over you in this industry, no matter how much it's normalized.

Accepted a small pickups job recently with a rate of $275/d with no rentals and no kit- below half my normal rate, but it's 4 people (me, director, DP, and a PA), and shoot, not doing anything those days. Went to the prep today with no DP (on a different job). Prepped alone, director comes in and asks me to do load-outs and load-ins for the gear but I live 2+ hours away, and again, am only being paid $275, so I politely decline and offer an alternative solution. She asks me during prep the same questions I've been answering for 4 days straight. I tell her kindly that we have talked about this before and discussed the plan and explain it to her again. Prep day goes on, we make small talk, and she mentions company moves. I say, "Oh man, I hate company moves, they take so much time." Day goes on, she calls me at the end of the day to say I corrected her several times and that saying that I hated company moves was insulting to her and her shoot and insinuated that I just don't have enough experience on "run&gun documentary", and called me prickly and "not a good vibe". I apologized for coming across a certain way, reassured her that I was not insulting her, clarified myself and still got fired. I set my professional boundaries and was punished for it (perhaps a blessing in disguise?).

All of this is to say, please do not let people walk all over you because it's a micro-budget/it's a labour of love/it's show business or whatever other reason someone might give you. Being professional doesn't mean being a pushover, and being good-natured does not mean fawning all over the "higher ups". We aren't just crew, we're human beings.

Love you crew!!
