Former boss not moving on

Before my prior boss moved to a new department, we had a 30 minute social gathering one morning a week during work hours. We did this because we all work from home and very few of us have ever met in person. The meetings were optional.

This boss was not very aware of professional boundaries. She hired local friends, and when things would break at her house, she would ask her direct Reports to do the repair at no cost. Even on weekends.

Now that she works for another department, she is continuing the weekly meeting with her former team. This includes people that left the department over year ago.
About 10 people are invited and current management does not know she’s doing this. I feel very uncomfortable.
I’d like advice on what to do. So far, I have left the gathering on my calendar, but not attended. Should I remove it from my calendar? Do I need to advise current management?

TLDR: Former manager socializing weekly on the clock with prior direct reports. (Remote work). Do I decline? Talk to her? Just not attend? Remove from calendar so I’m not implicated?

Glute med and min repair

My Ortho did a total hip replacement instead of a glute repair. And now I have to go in for a second surgery because I’m in much worse shape. My PT is amazing with shockwave therapy and cupping and dry needling and I’m still in worse shape with muscles torn further than before total hip.

The second opinion suggested open surgery to repair. I’m really nervous about recovery. Wearing the hip brace and how do I go to the bathroom? Go up and down stairs? Can I ride in a car? Am I gonna be able to sleep?
I’ve also heard something about a boot when sleeping.

Has anyone else had this surgery post-hip replacement and how did it go?

Huge family

I come from a family of eight surviving children. I am the youngest with my oldest sister much older than me.

I’ve had a relationship of one sort or another with all of my siblings except for the very oldest. I’m not really sure why that is other than just logistics of her being out of the house by the time I was three.

Yesterday I went to visit her at her assisted-living facility. I wanted to talk with her about her experience of the family. I also have a lot of gaps in my knowledge of what the family was like since I was the youngest. After I left, I realized I had never had a conversation with her. I’ve only seen her in group family settings.

I’m curious if anyone else has experienced something similar? How did that new relationship of all for you?

My coworker, I will call Jeanette, is incredibly charming, but is not a hard worker. Jeanette also is not very computer savvy and I often have to give her guidance on basic stuff.
I think because of how charming she is, Jeanette is a favorite with many people who don’t rely on her.

For reference, at least three of us on the small team are disgusted by all the kudos she receives.

Last week, Jeanette failed a required competency test. Twice. I passed it with a 98 out of 100. I did offer tips on how I prepared, before her 2nd attempt. I can’t help but laugh at the Karma and hope others will start to see Jeanette‘s true colors.

I feel mean because I’m often eaten up with jealousy. But a friend told me I was OK: It was time for consequences to finally land. What do you all think?
