Best free resources to learn Networking, OS, Linux, Windows, Databases & Programming?

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for good free resources to build a strong foundation in the following areas:

  • Networking
  • Operating Systems
  • Databases
  • Linux — preferably a complete course
  • Windows — preferably a complete course
  • Bash scripting
  • Python programming

If there are free certifications, structured courses, or well-known learning paths, I would prefer those over random YouTube videos.

My goal is to learn these properly from the fundamentals and eventually use them for cybersecurity, so resources with practical labs/exercises would be especially useful.

Please share any resources you personally found useful. Thanks!

What should I include in my profile to maximize my chances for a Master's in Cybersecurity (Red Teaming) and getting a job afterward?

Hi everyone,

I'm currently a 3rd-year B.Tech student in Artificial Intelligence & Data Science from India, and I'm planning to pursue a Master's in Cybersecurity, with the goal of specializing in Red Teaming/Penetration Testing.

My priority is not just getting into a good university, but also graduating with a profile that gives me the best possible chance of landing a cybersecurity job immediately after my master's.

From my research, I'm considering countries like Germany, Ireland, the Netherlands, Singapore, and Australia, mainly because they seem to have a stronger cybersecurity job market than some other destinations. However, I'm still open to suggestions if there are better options based on current market conditions.

I have around 1.5–2 years before I apply, so I want to spend this time building the strongest profile possible.

I'm looking for specific advice, not generic suggestions. For example:

  • Which technical skills should I prioritize?
  • Which programming languages are actually expected? (I'm currently planning to learn Python thoroughly.)
  • Which cybersecurity certifications are worth doing before my master's? (Security+, eJPT, PNPT, etc.)
  • Which online courses are genuinely respected by universities or employers? (Coursera, edX, HTB Academy, TryHackMe, TCM Security, PortSwigger Academy, etc.)
  • Should I focus more on certifications, practical labs, CTFs, internships, research papers, or personal projects?
  • What kind of GitHub portfolio would impress admissions committees or recruiters?
  • Are there specific networking, Linux, Active Directory, cloud, scripting, or web application security skills that are considered essential for someone targeting red teaming?
  • Would bug bounty experience make a significant difference?
  • Are there any certifications or courses that are overrated and not worth the time or money?

If you were starting today with about 2 years before applying, and your goal was:

  1. Get admitted to a strong cybersecurity master's program.
  2. Graduate with the highest chance of getting a red team/pentesting job.

Exactly what roadmap would you follow?

I'd really appreciate advice from people who have gone through this recently, especially those who studied abroad or currently work in offensive security.

Thanks!

Need advice for combination, acne-prone skin that gets extremely sweaty. Trying to keep my routine simple until I can see a dermatologist.

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for some advice regarding my skin.

About my skin:

  • I have combination skin—my T-zone gets quite oily while the rest of my face is normal to slightly dry.
  • I'm also acne-prone.
  • My face gets sweaty very easily, especially after bathing, being outside, or doing even light physical activity.
  • I live in an area where the weather is hot for most of the year, with high humidity during the monsoon and warm summers. Even during the cooler months, the afternoons are usually warm enough that I end up sweating, so my face rarely stays dry for long.
  • Because of this, most skincare products feel heavy or like they're sitting on my skin. Once I start sweating, my face ends up looking greasy and dull.

Current concerns:

  • Acne and occasional breakouts.
  • Oily T-zone with the rest of my face leaning normal/slightly dry.
  • Skin looks greasy and dull after a few hours.
  • Products don't seem to stay on my face because I sweat so much.

I'm currently trying to maintain my skin rather than start a full skincare routine because I'm already undergoing treatment for hair fall and plan to see a dermatologist later. So, for now, I just want a simple routine that's easy to stick to.

Ideally, I'm looking for:

  • A gentle cleanser.
  • A lightweight, non-sticky moisturizer.
  • A sunscreen that's matte, absorbs quickly, leaves no white cast, and is sweat-resistant.

Has anyone with a similar skin type and climate dealt with this? What routine or products worked well for you? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Combination Skin with Acne and Dullness need a routine and product suggestions!

Can anyone please suggest me (19M) skincare products or routine maybe that i can use?

I think i have a combination skin type with a lot of acne like a new everyday with dullness and years of tanning.

Honestly i haven't tried much products till now (used cetaphil, foxtale, mamaearth that too only cleansers of these brands no sunscreen or moisturizer or even a serum) as i have a sweat problem i sweat a lot from my face which really irritates me and as soon as i try to apply any product it makes it worse and i have to either wash my face or wipe it off

Any suggestions? Would be really helpful as i am tired and don't wanna try on products to see what works what not.
