Make me feel better about gifting my cats bed

I just want to start off by clarifying I have no affiliation with Knead. That said, I bought my baby two of their heated orthopedic beds and he LOVED them until the end (we let him go Tuesday with 19 years of love 😞).

The other night my husband and I were talking and we decided we wanted to gift one of the beds to our friend with an elderly cat. I feel awesome about this in my brain but I’m struggling. I want this cat bed to benefit a little elderly guy for sure. I don’t want it to sit in our home or basement unused. But I also can’t stop crying.

Im doing the right thing right? I feel guilty for some reason.

Goodbye my sweet boy (19)

On Tuesday we had to say goodbye to the best cat I’ve ever known. The best cat I’ll ever know. ❤️

I was lucky enough to spend more than 19 years with him, nearly half my life. I wasn’t even looking for another cat when he found me. Someone handed me a box with a litter of frightened kittens who had been living under a deck, and one little kitten immediately felt like he was meant to be mine.

He grew up with me through college, moves, new jobs, and eventually the life my husband and I built together. He absolutely adored my husband. Watching the two of them become best friends is one of my favorite parts of his story.

He had the biggest personality. He loved his Knead heated cat beds, bird watching, back scratches, Christmas, snacks, and stealing bites of turkey whenever he could.

He was so tough. He had hyperthyroidism and kidney issues for years that we managed with twice daily medicine. (If anyone wants advice on how we made his medication a less traumatic experience let me know). He ultimately developed a breathing issue, we believe it was a result of a nasal tumor 😞
My heart is completely broken, but I’m grateful we were able to let him go peacefully before he suffered more.

I just wanted the world to know he was here. He was deeply loved, he loved us right back, and for 19 wonderful years he made our lives better.
I miss you so much, buddy. ❤️

Need advice for 19 year old cat with breathing issues

This is so hard to write, and it’s a long one.

My 19 year old boy is such a trooper. He’s had a heart murmur since he was young but it’s been stable for many years and still so now. He has hyperthyroidism and kidney issues so we’ve been balancing that with twice a day medication for many years as well. Several years ago, he had an issue where he couldn’t poop and had to undergo enemas and other treatments but he came out the other side totally happy and his normal self.

For the past couple weeks he’s had breathing issues only when he’s purring that have gotten progressively worse. We’re not sure if it’s a cat cold or something more serious.

I bought a high end air purifier and that helped a bit. He has a heated orthopedic cat bed and when he sleeps in that he’s perfectly fine (breathing is well within normal). He’s also eating and drinking well.

We went to the vet last Wednesday. They did bloodwork and X-rays and his lungs and heart look good. There’s a super small mass in his stomach they’re recommending we look into (via an ultrasound) but that’s not likely to cause the breathing issues.

At the vet last week he got a shot of antibiotics just in case there was a secondary bacterial infection making him congested. He was also prescribed prednisolone once a day and that seems to help but only for a certain time; his breathing gets worse at the end of the 24 hr period. We have already tried splitting the dose but it has no effect that way.

We know we could sedate him and have someone look at his airways closer but given his age and underlying issues I’m nervous about putting him through that.

We have another vet appointment next week.

I don’t know what to do. The only time he can breathe comfortably is when he’s sleeping in his bed so he’s been doing that more often than not. He has moments where he seems so much better but also moments where he is struggling to breathe. He’s also been having issues pooping again. He does so but it’s just small poops not the regular ones.

I don’t want to give up too soon if this is just a bad cold but I also don’t want him to suffer. I would do literally anything for him but I also promised him many years ago that we’d have as many good years as possible not just as many years as I want. Which would be all the years. Anyone been through something similar or have advice?

Avian pox?

So this red winged blackbird was on my feeder today. One AI tool says it’s likely caked on mud because they forage in the mud (it’s been raining here recently) and another said it’s possibly or likely avian pox. What do you think? As a precaution I’ve taken down my feeders for the time being.

▲ 5 r/Wegovy+1 crossposts

I have been on Wegovy for a few months. I did my check in consult 3 weeks ago, earlier than I had to, because my last two Wegovy orders BARELY arrived on time the last two months.

I checked in a week ago to ensure I would receive it in time. They assured me it’d be here by the end of April. It’s May 2nd and it’s still “processing” (not even shipped) and I’m supposed to take my next dose Monday. I am LIVID!

Don’t use Ro. Go with another service that can actually deliver what you need when you need it.
