UTI for almost 2 months, absolutely no antibiotic helps, no doctor wants to treat it anymore

Ive had a UTI for pretty much almost 2 months now, if not even longer? Honestly I cant tell because I might have had these symptoms for months and I never treated it until I learned that it can literally kill you. Anyway i took a billion antibiotics (cefuroxime, ciprofloxacin, levofloxacin, bactrim), I also tried 3 others that I turned out to be allergic to (augmentin, cefpodoxime, cefixime), so yeah all of these did absolutely nothing, i tried fosfomycin which relieved the burning somewhat but I feel like its returning again and I only took it 2 days ago. So, basically nothing works, I did a urinalysis and it was all normal despite the burning persisting and my urologist told me he cant do anything because he "cant treat healthy patients", he WAS going to send me to a hospital to be treated but since my urinalysis showed its normal he just couldnt do anything unless it was positive. So, basically theres nothing I can do anymore. Part of me is hoping maybe the urinalysis is correct and I truly dont have an infection anymore and maybe this is something else but another part of me is like what else could this be?? There's no other condition that can cause burning during urination. I dont know what to do anymore besides drink a shitton of water. Should I just wait til it spreads to my kidneys at this point? It feels like thats the only thing I can do now :(

Its especially weird because, how come none of the antibiotics have worked?? I tried every single one, at least ONE of them would have worked, ive never ever taken any antibiotic in my life besides azithromycin for mild pneumonia and doxycycline an year ago when I realized maybe the burning and frequency im experiencing is a UTI (that antibiotic never got rid of it). Its just so strange.

How do you know if it has spread to your kidneys

Ive had a uti that just doesnt go away with ANYTHING at all for almost 2 months now and im just at this point anticipating it becoming a kidney infection so, how do I know if its in my kidneys? Besides back pain because that is incredibly vague as ive had back and flank pain for a very long time now and each time it turns out to not be my kidneys. Id at least be vomiting right, or having a fever? Or being in extreme pain? I really want to catch it as soon as possible but I dont like when people say "if you have back pain" because I honestly dont believe that alone says its a kidney infection

UTI symptoms but urinalysis is normal, doctors refuse to treat

Ive had a UTI for almost 2 months now (confirmed via urinalysis and it showing leukocytes), ive tried like a billion antibiotics and none of them worked (ciprofloxacin, levofloxacin, cefuroxime, bactrim), I was also given augmentin once but my throat started closing up as soon as I took it so I cant take that, I also turned out to be allergic to cefpodoxime and cefixime. Ive done two different urinalysis in the past week, my urologist doesnt want to treat it anymore because it has no leukocytes nor anything else other than a trace of protein, and tells me to just drink a lot of water and take herbal supplements because theres nothing he can do and he cant "treat a healthy patient". My gp says the same thing pretty much. There was a time were my urologist told me if the UTI truly doesnt go away he'll send me to be treated at a hospital, but since my urinalysis is negative he cant just send me there. It makes sense I mean, the doctors will see negative tests and they obviously wont let me just be there without any proof i genuinely have an infection, but theres nothing I can do anymore. I took a sachet of fosfomycin last night, I technically did that before too but it didnt work however I just assume its because I took it at evening and the pharmacist told me it wont have an effect if I take it early and just pee it out so I assume maybe if I take it correctly this time itll work but we'll have to see.

Im just heartbroken because I dont know what to do. And yes I did to a culture twice, but both were after being on antibiotics so they were negative most likely due to that. If the fosfomycin doesnt work there might be nothing I can do besides just wait for it to reach my kidneys :(

Does creatinine show kidney infection?

Technically when I was at the hospital and I asked the woman at the registry if creatinine can show kidney infection she called the laboratory workers and they said it can but idk if they lied or not. If I have a kidney infection will the creatinine be high?

Does a regular cbc show anaphylaxis?

Sorry i know i made a similar post before but i really wanna know

Tldr; Ive been scared im having anaphylaxis and i remember that eosinophils/basophils increase during an allergic reaction its why im asking here

Context:

So ive been having shortness of breath after taking an antibiotic (cefixime), when I went to the ER after 2 days of it not stopping and me barely being able to explain my symptoms they injected me with a corticosteroid and put me on oxygen, however the SOB didnt improve at all, after 2 more days it seemed to have been improving, still there but it was getting better, then two days ago when I was given a new antibiotic (cefpodoxime) my SOB worsened a little, but today not only did it worsen but my throat also started feeling tight, I went to the ER and a doc there injected me with a corticosteroid (my throat felt better but not my sob), I asked him to check my oxygen levels and they were at 95-93, but he said those machines arent accurate, hours after when I had to go to my doctor I told him about my fear that im anaphylactic and he said if I was then I wouldnt be able to stand and my lips and fingers would be blue and that im just having a panic attack, when I told him about my oxygen levels he said those are normal, abnormal levels are below 90 (which is weird because google says normal levels are between 95-100, and the last time i had severe shortness of breath they were at 97-95). Anyway yeah its been almost 8 hours since I took the antibiotic and im scared im gonna die from anaphylaxis, my basophils and eosinophils are normal from what I saw on my cbc (I did the cbc for a different reason, the ER doc said I had to do one to check my hemoglobin because my HR was a little high) and I know those increase from allergic reactions

Urologist doesnt wanna treat my uti anymore

Sorry I know i made a post here before but i wanna vent out my frustrations

Ive been having a uti for over a month now, and I tried many many different antibiotics (ciprofloxacin, cefuroxime, levofloxacin, bactrim, fosfomycin) and they didnt work, and i tried some that I turned out to be allergic to (augmentin, cefixime, cefpodoxime), so basically there's nothing else I can try anymore, I did do a urinalysis and blood work 2 days ago and the urinalysis showed negative for leukocytes now (before it was 30-33 , now its 2-3), however I did take fosfomycin the day prior so I told my urologist and he said "sure the antibiotic could suppress it but if it was a stable infection it would still show higher than that and at least something on your blood work would be abnormal", I told him I still have minor burning but he said to just treat that with herbal medicine that he prescribed, he said my results show that I cannot be treated with antibiotics and he cannot treat a healthy person, so he made me go home. I honestly dont know what to do anymore and im heartbroken, should I just wait til it reaches my kidneys?

Was what I had truly anaphylaxis

So a week ago I took an antibiotic i was prescribed for a uti (cefixime), I technically have taken cefuroxime before so yk I thought i wouldnt have any issues with this medication. First time I took it I dont think i had anything bad happen, second time I started having this sensation of shortness of breath, it wasnt exactly bad or anything i thought i was just having a panic attack because ive had a similar thing happen to me before and it went away. The third time it was the same, but honestly i was more scared this time because it kinda felt worse but I couldn't tell, the next day it didn't go away so I went on this subreddit and asked if this is anaphylaxis and if its too late to go to the ER since technically its been like 2 days by now, someone told me to go so I went and they injected me with something and gave me oxygen, then they let me go after an hour, but my breathing didnt get better at all so I went back and begged them to check my oxygen levels because I genuinely felt like I couldn't breathe, my oxygen levels were normal so they blamed it on my anxiety. My breathing didnt get better after multiple days either. On a different subreddit I was told if it was anaphylaxis I would've been dead within an hour of onset and it cant be anaphylaxis if ive been having shortness of breath for multiple days. So honestly im confused, yes even google sites say it causes death within as little as 15 minutes, but im confused what that was then, I guess i really would have been dead within the first day? But idk

Not a SINGULAR antibiotic works for my uti

Ive been struggling with a uti for a very very long time now, it was confirmed being a uti over a month ago but i swear ive been dealing with it for longer than that, I began treating it because a urinalysis showed leukocytes and protein, first with ciprofloxacin, took it for 6 days but around day 4 symptoms came back if not worse.

then was put on cefuroxime, took it for 5 days, it seemed to have cleared it out for the most part but not fully, gp was suspicious two whole antibiotics didnt work so she made me do a culture, it showed no bacteria.

she allowed me to do an ultrasound and it showed bladder wall thickening so they confirmed it could be cystitis, so I was put on augmentin, which i think im allergic to because after taking the first dose my throat started feeling tight and itchy, so my gp made me go to a urologist.

he made me do a culture and it came back negative, but I couldnt go to him til next week because he was on some vacation or smth so I bought myself bactrim, which wasnt working at all after taking it for 3 days so I go back to him and he prescribed me levofloxacin, took that for 6 days but by the 6th day I had a strange reaction and I didnt have a good feeling about it so I stopped it (and it wasnt working anyway honestly), i go to him and he made me do a urinalysis which showed 30-33 leukocytes and 2+ protein so he prescribed me cefixime, took that for 3 days but I had an allergic reaction, I go back to him and he says hes too scared to prescribe me an antibiotic at this point if I had an allergic reaction so he prescribed me some sort of herbal thing. I didnt buy that. I decided to buy myself fosfomycin yesterday and took it, idk if im having any improvement, ill go to my urologist again today but genuinely NOTHING FUCKING WORKS. NOT A SINGULAR ANTIBIOTIC. I honestly just wanna give up at this point, if nothing works then maybe im just meant to die from it idk.

Curious about how CRP works, I have some questions about it

So I have 3 questions that have been circling my mind ever since learning about CRP.

  1. What exactly is a normal CRP level? In my lab its 0.0-6.0 mg/L, however some people say anything over 1.0 mg/L is high, ive seen some people say their doctor told them their 5.0 mg/L level is "through the roof" even though its considered normal in most labs that I see. So, what exactly is a normal CRP?

  2. So, since im a hypochondriac, and checking my blood work is a big compulsion of mine currently because ive had a uti for over a month, ive been curious about something. CRP is supposed to rise whenever there is an active inflammation/infection in the body. If ive had a uti (obviously bacterial infection) for a month, how come each time I check my CRP it comes out normal all the time? Wouldnt it be at least a little bit elevated? Im not doubting the presence of a current bacterial infection, though its weird, ive read a lot of docs talking about how itll be raised even from a simple cold, its why im curious how it hasnt been elevated even once despite my active bacterial infection.

  3. Which is more accurate, CRP or ESR? I know the difference is how quickly they get raised and how quickly they come back to normal? At least its what i remember, but, ive seen some people say their ESR was raised but CRP stayed normal, and then the other way around. So, which is more accurate in determining inflammation?

Those are my questions basically

I cant tell whether I should be concerned about my blood work or not

19F 177cm 57kg

I did make a post yesterday because my cbc showed elevated wbc and neutrophils, and me being concerned because I might have a possible kidney infection. My wbc were at 12.2 and neutrophils at 9.9, percentage neutrophils were 81%, other things that were off that I didnt mention were mchc being 361 for some reason, also pct was slightly elevated at 0.304. So, i wasnt taken seriously about my blood work and was told to wait til monday to go to my urologist, but because im terrified of yk dying from my supposed severe deadly infection, I decide to do a crp test to prove that this is a concerning situation, but my crp comes back normal? Infact its even lower than 5 days ago when my urologist made me do blood work. Today it was at 0.7 mg/L (normal range is 0.0-6.0 mg/L), last time (also when my cbc was normal too) was 1.0 mg/L (also, last time my pct was at 0.345, and yesterday it was lower which is very strange to me). Im confused if I have a severe infection or not and should I still be concerned? I also had bad flank pain when I did the blood tests at my urologist but weirdly enough everything even kidney function tests were normal, since yesterday ive been having more stinging pain in my back its why its weird that the crp is better now. Should I still be scared or?

Confused about CBC and CRP

Ive had a uti for over a month now and ive been doing blood work constantly because of my fear of it going into my kidneys. So in the span of a week, when I was at my urologist 5 days ago he ordered me to do a urinalysis and some blood work, all my blood work (CBC, CRP, urea and creatinine) were normal despite having pretty bad flank pain and nausea, my urinalysis wasnt good (30-33 leukocytes, 2+ protein, trace of ketones).

Yesterday I did a cbc because yk im concerned since I stopped taking my antibiotic for like 2 days at that point due to me being allergic to it (urologist wasnt working at that time so i couldnt be prescribed smth else), so cbc comes back with: 12.2 wbc, 9.9 total neutrophils, 81% neutrophil percentage, 13% lymphocyte percentage, 361 mchc, those were the abnormalities. So I get scared obviously because ok one time my wbc and neutrophils (and mchc weirdly enough) were elevated and then came back to normal the next day for some reason, but they were mildly elevated unlike here, my gp didnt wanna take it seriously despite my symptoms and obvious uti she just told me to wait til monday to go to my urologist.

Today since I had the need to confirm that it was a serious infection (and me fearing im going into sepsis) I go do a CRP test, and strangely enough it was at 0.7 mg/L (normal range in our lab is 0.0-6.0 mg/L), which is also less than what it was 5 days ago (last time it was 1.0), so, im very confused rn. Do I have a serious severe infection or no

Ive been having a uti for over a month now with pretty much no antibiotic working (and 2 of what I was given i turned out to be allergic to), I was having flank pain pretty much the whole time while having the uti but it kept turning out to not be in my kidneys, 4 days ago I went to my urologist and was made to do blood work (crp, cbc, bun and urea), it was all normal, my urinalysis however showed 30 leukocytes and 2+ protein, I was put on cefixime which gave me an allergic reaction so I stopped taking it after 3 days, yesterday I went and spoke to him and he said he's scared to give me anything at this point if im having allergic reactions, he prescribed me some sort of herbal thing, I didnt buy it tho. Today my nausea increased along with my flank pain, I got concerned so I went to do a cbc and it showed 12.2 wbc, 9.9 total neutrophils and 81% neutrophil percentage. I go to my gp and shes all like "and what am I supposed to do about it" and im telling her im scared of going septic if this infection is in my kidneys, she laughs at me and is all like "yeah sure sure what else do you wanna tell me", so I leave and am very depressed and scared now. No doctor wants to take me seriously and am just told to wait til Monday since thats when my urologist will be back to work. Im not sure what to do and if theres anything I can do at all. The ER here cant do tests for infections and stuff I did actually go to them today because a nurse told me I could go there if I dont wanna pay for the cbc but when I went they told me they cant do things like that and only my gp can allow it. So no the ER cant do any testing. This fucking sucks and am so pissed off that I might just be left to die :(

Im not being taken seriously about a possible kidney infection i dont know what to do

Ive had a UTI for over a month now with pretty much no antibiotic helping, I was recently given cefixime but I turned out to be allergic so I quit it after 3 days, 4 days ago I had a urinalysis and blood work done on me, everything was normal with the blood work including BUN and urea, but the urinalysis showed like 30 leukocytes and 2+ protein, today I did blood work and it showed 12.2 wbc, 9.9 total neutrophils and 81% neutrophil percentage, im not sure if this means kidney infection the wbc are only a bit above the normal but when I showed it to a gp and told her my concerns she brushed me off and told me to come back on monday since the urologist isnt gonna be working til then. Im not sure what to do im terrified.

I dont wanna explain too much but the medication i took caused me shortness of breath for two almost 3 days now and today I went to do a cbc and i know eosinophils increase during an allergic reaction, mine are normal, so would they be high if I was having anaphylaxis?

Edit: I want to say that I was already at a doctor and at the ER twice today, the ER gave me an injection and put me on oxygen and i begged them to check my oxygen and it was at 97% both times that it was checked. I dont know whats going on its why I wanna know if this is anaphylaxis or not

Ok so I apologize for making multiple posts this is just the first time im experiencing something like this.

So 3 days ago I was given an antibiotic, first day was fine then the second I started having shortness of breath, didnt know if I should go to the hospital so I just slept through it, yesterday same thing, except it got better and then it got worse, again didnt know if i should go to the hospital so I just waited it out and then slept, today I woke up and the symptoms didnt subside this time, my breathing was still off and so I decided to go to the hospital and I could only briefly explain my symptoms, I told them I think im allergic to the medication i took and that i cant breathe well and im having some pains, but they took me in the ER and they gave me some sort of an injection in my buttocks (im not sure what was in it) and then they put me on an oxygen mask, after like around half an hour they came in and asked me if im fine and if i wanna be on the oxygen for longer, I didnt know what to do so honestly I just told them I could prolly go, I did ask them if they can check my oxygen levels because I wanted to know if im getting enough oxygen at all yk since honestly I was still feeling off, and it was at 99% so ig it was fine, they then let me go.

Im kinda confused on what happened bc everyone says their ER experience was like them getting bunch of IVs and tons of medications and had to be watched for hours but for me it wasnt like that at all, so im wondering if what they did was correct?

I started taking an antibiotic called cefixime 3 days ago, first dose wasn't too bad, second dose caused me to get some mild shortness of breath after about an hour or so, I didn't know what to do because it wasn't too bad and it might've just been me having a panic attack, third dose, yesterday, this time the shortness of breath came quicker, like 20 minutes later, it wasnt as bad as the one from two days ago tho so I thought I'll just wait it out, it seemed to have been improving by itself until like I think 7 hours later my breathing got worse, I was hyperventilating at that point but I didn't know if I should go to the ER, I started experiencing some pretty bad nausea suddenly though that went away after an hour, the shortness of breath kept going on for hours and then I just decided to go to sleep, so it's the next day now and I'm still experiencing some mild shortness of breath but I feel like it's too late to go to the ER now? If this was anaphylaxis, this is a very serious life threatening symptom and on sites it says it's stage 3 where you're in anaphylactic shock, my blood pressure has been normal the whole time yesterday tho so I doubt it was shock (well, especially because I'm clearly not dead a whole day later), either way I'm confused on what to do, should I just wait it out at this point? Again the shortness of breath isn't too bad, it's just me not being able to take deep breaths sometimes but I can breathe normally overall

I was prescribed a new antibiotic for my uti, cefixime, and I started taking it 3 days ago, on the first day nothing really bad happened, yesterday after an hour of taking it I began experiencing some sort of shortness of breath, I wasnt able to take a deep breath, or was able to but only after trying multiple times, it lasted a few hours and when I went to sleep and woke up I was able to breathe all fine again, I wasnt sure if that was anaphylaxis or not since it wasnt really horrible or anything, I was able to breathe *technically* and could eat and drink water and didnt have any other symptoms nor was the shortness of breath getting worse. Today, 2 hours ago I took my 3rd dose, around 20 mins later, same thing as yesterday, not able to take a very deep breath but not as bad as how it was yesterday, am still able to take good deep breaths from time to time, im also not breathing fast or anything infact my breathing is quite slow and calm, im not feeling like I cant breathe I just cant take deep breaths sometimes, I dont have any other symptoms.

So, its been an hour and a half since the reaction happened, would I have been dead by now? Yesterday same thing was happening but it was worse and nothing bad happened, I know anaphylaxis can kill you in just about 15 minutes without medical attention and im obviously way past that mark, should I still be worried or should I be fine for now?

u/paranoidspiral — 16 days ago

So like almost 3 hours ago I took my antibiotic and it was all fine til like an hour later I started experiencing panic attack like symptoms, I started crying and being unable to get in a deep breath, I dont know if what I was having was anaphylaxis or just a panic attack I cant tell, I didnt have any other symptoms just those, I could take a deep breath but only if I try a few times, so its been almost 2 hours since that happened and im breathing normally technically and my BP and hr has been normal the whole time but I still have moments were I cant take in a deep enough breath, I can breathe better just that I cant always take a deep enough breath (this Has happened to me a lot before as well and its always gotten better by itself its why i cant tell if this is serious or not). So like, *if* this was anaphylaxis, sorry if it isnt cuz I cant tell i mean I know shortness of breath is part of it and i have health anxiety so yk, if this was anaphylaxis how quickly would it have gone into anaphylactic shock?
