so this is both physiology and classification, couldnt double the flair. someone shared the original study in r/echeveria and its pretty compelling.

[ID: Out on the balcony, a Sedum burrito sits in a small black planter, atop a terra cotta saucer that has beautiful pebbles in it. Maddox has his fingers around the planter for scale. A whole cluster of the thick, globular leaves is barely the size of his thumbnail. Maddox painted his nails recently in sky blue and lilac, with gold flakes on top.]
balcony garden in north vancouver, canada, 5pm. she stopped for a drink at the pollinator/predator water cooler. (shallow enough to keep mosquitoes from layin eggs)

[ID: Two Tillandsiae ionantha sit on the base panel of a black laptop which is playing a fantasy anime. On screen, a young blonde girl is trying to cook with fire magic. The laptop's keyboard is underlit with LEDs that color-shift through neon shades. The laptop sits on a slate-blue comforter. Some water vapor drifts dreamily across the bed and plants.]

do you ever feel your blood pumping under your skin? eg legs, fingers, gums
for my system its a pretty intense experience. cant feel anything going on heartwise (doesnt feel like its racing or pounding).
just wondering who else experiences this. it tends to coincidence with air hunger for us.
it uses fluentpet buttons to ask for medicine.
[ID: Tumblr user fishgummy says, "New Eevee evolution called Ibuprofeon." An illustrator called psychedelic-lemur posts their illustration of a very exhausted, red-eyed Eeveelution. Its body is white, with Band-Aid-beige markings on its back and forelegs. It has a cone around its neck, a small white tablet set in its forehead, and a tail made of blister packs.]
my primary care clinic is a teaching clinic. at todays appt i offered the nursing student a look at my petechiae (looks like road rash, about three inches across and four inches long). he said sure.
i explained how the connective tissue in the blood vessels isnt very stable and so when my thigh was itchy and i scratched it, it caused bruising. (obv more to that physiologically but it was an appt and i wanted to be brief.) he was cool and found it interesting 😊
appt went well overall and i got what i needed. been a pretty difficult week but that was a nice moment.
never seen it on an ivy, always on monsterae and philodendrons.
hi folks, the staff at my clinic are rad but theyre not really sure what to do with this plant. what is it and how can they help it? the waiting room doesnt have windows.
i was thinking of writing up a lil care card and asking reception if theyd like some help looking after the plant (the staff like me so im 100% certain theyll say yes)
newly disabled (got a strong medical team, good vibes are preferred to advice 😊) and learning to do plamt. its hard but its helping.
these are origanum syriacum (syrian oregano, lebanese oregano, zaatar oregano, bible hyssop) from seeds canada. the potting mix contains peat thats grown sustainably on a site, instead of removed from an ecosystem.
i expect the oregano to be slow growers and will add a cover to maintain some humidity. theyre getting a lil spritz daily with rainwater i collected from our last downpour...which was this week 😑
what are yall growing? how weird has your weather been?
[ID: First photo is a close-up of a packet of seeds in maddox's hand. They are roughly the shape and color of caraway seeds but much smaller. Second photo: On the floor of maddox's balcony, on a cloudy day, is a huge black bag of Pro-Mix Premium Organic Seed Starting Mix. Also in frame, on the bottom shelf of a rack, are a pack of fifty McKenzie Jiffy Strips (seed cells), a package of Stay Green plant netting, and a pack of Safety 1st plug protectors. In the third photo, maddox has a tray of Jiffy Strips on his lap; two of the cells have soil in them. On his right is a white bucket full of pollen-heavy rainwater, and on his left is an iPad. The fourth photo is a close-up of a white container of the seeds. Maddox is holding a pair of tweezers so that he can pick them up. In the last photo, the bottom rack had three Jiffy Strips trays total, all filled with soil. The rack above contains five very tiny terra cotta pots of soil, in saucers that have a few decorative pebbles in them. Maddox has wrapped the netting around the rack so that birds can't get to the seeds, and the iPad is on the floor of the balcony. End ID.]
had a chat over email with our* optometrist and asked about her thoughts on us maybe having sjögrens. she said it would explain a lot, and edited the letter shed planned to send to our new pcp when we got one (and we just got one!). the pcp mentioned to me that the optometrist suggested exploring the possibility of sjögrens. well see what happens (:
*im plural, have DID, so use we/our when talking about things that apply to my system as a whole

why it look like dat /:
update: its pollen. good.
hey all, im maddox, host of the crystal millennium system. were 33f and were dx'd in 2024 by a rheumatologist. before becoming too sick to continue, we were studying microbiology with the intention to go into health sciences.
a couple of years ago we came across a 2021 paper in frontiers in cell and developmental biology that left us kinda shaken. the findings need to be replicated, but there were two that stuck out to us.
the first was that the evidence for collagen being the culprit may be inconsistent. the researchers reviewed several studies and found that a) many controls had similar rates of collagen abnormalities, and b) there were plenty of pweds/hsd who had collagen abnormalities, but few symptoms to speak of.
the second finding was that cells called fibroblasts (which produce collagen and the extracellular matrix) may be implicated in the pathophysiology of eds/hsd, to a greater degree than was previously thought.
our optometrist skimmed the study herself and said that it would explain a lot of our symptoms. she even ordered an extra test after reading.
but heres the problem: these are all based on skin biopsies.
im trying to find out if any researchers have been looking at the fibroblasts and/or cell adhesion of other tissues. if you have any links or even just thoughts, lmk. it cant be skin tissue forever 😭
was a freebie with my order, any idea what it is / specialized care tips?
edit: ID'd as ionantha!
im gonna get a dacaron
update: i used my dacaron money on snapdragon seeds. ):
update: hey guys? its just a nice photo of a parklet. its not that deep. we dont need to get cynical and negative about it. enjoy the view. 😅
[ID: South-ish-facing view down the avenue. It's a gorgeous day. To the left are dollar stores and restaurants, and to the left is the street. Between these is one of the city's narrow parklets. The patio has bright yellow metal chairs around silver tables and yellow patio umbrellas. There is probably lavender? in tall wooden planters. A pedestrian is walking north up the street but her face has been censored.]
thank you for kindly stopping a minute to let me bug you and ask what youre wearing. iranian/persian and west asian ppl especially, idk what it is about yall but youve got taste.
edit: you guys need to visit the avenue in central lonsdale and experience the wonder. the whimsy. a girl left vanilla pastry sillage in her wake.
edit: ok wow to be clear – north vancouver is by far the most fragrant city ive lived in. and ive lived in over a dozen cities, small towns and metropolises.
immigrants are awesome and their languages, clothes, music, food, and religions are welcome and their perfumes are epic. sorry if this is triggering, maybe spritz some lattafah and get a karak milk tea and a nice sushi roll and maybe u will feel better
they wont come off. does she need them?
