I (26NB) recently reconnected with an old friend (24F) I had lost contact with about 2 years ago. I live in the US while my friend lives in the UK so we already have a 6 hour time difference but she and I were extremely close when we were in contact. Our friendship ended when some drama happened between her and her ex and she was forced to cut me off.
About two weeks ago, she made contact with me again and while she is a very busy person (she’s a photojournalist and does medic work on the side), during the beginning of the contact she was very responsive and was very happy to welcome me back into her life.
However, it has now been 5 days since she has seen or even replied to my messages on Messenger. I have only sent her 3 messages since then as I don’t want to overwhelm her or seem too clingy. She is often very active on messenger, adding to her stories and advertising events she will be at, but I often get that overwhelming feeling of sadness when I see her active but she won’t even see my messages or reply to me. I’m trying to give her the benefit of the doubt and I know it is my anxiety getting to me but I would really like to hear advice from people who have also been in a scenario where they reconnected with an old friend but they’re a bit distant/busy.
