[Weird trope] A character unwittingly develops a crush on their own mother

  1. Malcolm in the Middle: Reese finds Lois's diary and read it and develops feelings for the writer, not knowing it's his own mom. Once he finds out, he's extremely horrified.

  2. Family Guy: Stewie time-travels and develops a crush on a girl his age and kisses her. He almost immediately learns it's the young version of his mom, Lois. He's so disgusted, he pukes a copious amount of bile.

Theory: Jamie is pretending to be a blockhead to escape the weight of expectations (Life is Still Unfair)

As someone who greatly enjoyed the revival, Jamie's portrayal felt off and out of sync what what was shown in the original. He was clearly intended to be very intelligent. In the revival, he's just...there and rather stupid, more of a functional Reese. Came out of nowhere

So what happened? I think Jamie saw all the pressure Dewey had to face growing up and even heard of Lois and Hal's grand dreams for Malcolm and thought "nope" and so pretends to be stupid or average so his parents wouldn't set plans for him. Maybe Dewey suggested it to protect Jamie.

This would also parallel the episode in which it is sbown Jamie deliberately remains silent despite being perfectly capable of speaking. He doesn't want to deal with all that.

What are the odds of seeing Lucifer in DCU?

The Netflix adaptation was never meant to be particularly accurate so there is a prospect for freshness for the non-comic readers should it ever come to DCU.

Queer characters who are on bad their terms with their parents BUT their conflict is not about their sexualities

  1. Love Lies Bleeding: Lou is a lesbian and she and Lou Sr don't see eye to eye anymore despite her being his heir once. It's revealed he was even supportive of his daughter once she came out (big deal as the movie takes place in 1989) and she happily helped in his crimes but she left him because he became too insane for her tolerance.

  2. House M.D episode, Hunting: Kalvin Ryan is gay and estranged from his dad for reasons he refuses to disclose. It's assumed because his father is homophobic but later, it's revealed his father never had a problem with his son's sexuality and even supported him and their relationship only fell apart because he blamed his son for the death of his wife. Kalvin couldn't donate a kidney to his mother because he was HIV positive. She died and father and son grew apart. The episode ends with the two of them reconciling.

Amidst chaos, a baby is born

  1. Children of Men: Kee gives birth in a camp in a dystopian world, and her daughter is the first child to be born in 18 years.

  2. Squid Game: Player 222/Kim Jun-hee gives birth to her daughter in the middle of a death game as other players are hunting her and her protectors down

This is even more gruesome than what was shown in season 4

The dragon eggs we see in the depths of Voracia's place have visible fetus in them through a transparent shell. The eggs in Echoes of Dissent looked pale, likely in early stages of development. Voracia's eggs? You can practically see the babies ready to hatch. And she kills them.

Both scenarios are messed up and evil and Voracia somehow outdid what the essail queen did. This also makes Eldric and his allies more evil in retrospect as they were the ones who sold the eggs to Voracia.

Azkarion'Sol would go mad if she knew.

[Hated trope] Adaptations made by people who outright express indifference or even hatred toward the source material

  1. Adi Shankar's Devil May Cry. Particularly a dishonest one because Shankar wants to claim he's very passionate about DMX and yet he is openly admits he wanted DMC to be a dead franchise revived by his terrible cartoon. And it's not the first or last lie he had said about his show, claiming it would be faithful before release to appease fans, then got honest about his lies. Such leech-y behaviour. The proof of it exists.

  2. Ryan Condal's House of the Dragon. Adaptation of the Dance of the Dragons by GRRM, Condla has repeatedly dismissed the text as "historical inaccuracy" and he particularly has an obsession with the character of Alicent, stripping her away of her cunning and character. Even GRRM who is usually placid on adaptations had things to say about this show.

  3. M Night Shyamalan's The Last Airbender. Not outright hatred but he admitted he saw the show as a kids' show which goes to show how him not taking it seriously led to this disastrous movie. He even acted like the alternative was taking a Michael Bay approach and make it more adult-oriented. When it's not this absolute and the issue is he just didn't care enough and was making a movie for his daughter.

  4. Kenneth Branagh's Artemis Fowl. Not hatred either but he considered Artemis's morally dubious character to be too much for the audience and so he changed and whitewash him to be a normal regular kid when it was Artemis's viciousness that set him apart from other fantasy protagonists.
