Are placements in nits, iiits are also cooked

I recently saw some posts on this or other subs that the people of nits and iiits complaining that very few companies are coming in their college for placements and which are coming they are giving upto 8 to 10lpa packages

So seriously even in nits and iiits is this the current condition

If this is true then the Job market is fully grilled now🥲🥲

Got Amazon OA assessment link shall I give it or not?

I just randomly applied for amazon auta program and directly got the ka link in the next minute

Iam very confused like do amazon send the OA links to all or there any other things

Another thing the portal on Amazon shows 29 days for pending assessment while the mail I got says that you have to do it no later than 1 week from now?? So which should I follow

And the main thing

You see I just randomly applied and got the link

I don't know much means iam learning but today iam not that good in dsa so iam just asking should I give the OA or not like

Means I don't want to get a cooldown after this I didn't know they will give me the link the next moment

Pleasee people help me

Tier-3 ENTC student aiming for backend/SDE roles — am I on the right path, and what more should I be doing?

Hi everyone

,

I'm currently a 3rd-year Electronics & Telecommunication (ENTC) student from a tier-3 college in India. Even though my branch isn't CS, I'm genuinely passionate about software engineering, especially backend systems.

Over the last year, I've been spending most of my time learning backend development and computer science fundamentals in depth rather than just following tutorials. Recently I've been learning topics like:

Redis (caching, optimistic locking, Lua scripts, cache invalidation, etc.)

Kafka and Pub/Sub architectures

System design fundamentals

Backend architecture and distributed systems concepts

Networking and cloud fundamentals (AWS)

I'm not just trying to know what these technologies do—I try to understand why they exist, how they work internally, their trade-offs, and when they should be used.

Alongside that:

I'm solving LeetCode every day and trying not to skip a single day.

I'm learning Low-Level Design (still a beginner here).

I'm building backend projects instead of only doing DSA.

Project-wise, I've worked on software that was deployed for a police department. One of the projects I contributed to was also recognized by the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, which is probably the strongest point on my resume.

Since I'm from a tier-3 college and a non-CS branch, I'm planning to rely mainly on off-campus opportunities rather than campus placements.

My question is:

Am I focusing on the right things, or am I missing something important?

If you were in my position and wanted to maximize your chances of getting shortlisted by companies like Amazon, Microsoft, Mastercard, Goldman Sachs, Atlassian, etc., what would you do differently?

Should I focus more on:

Open source contributions?

Better full-stack/backend projects?

Competitive programming?

Higher LeetCode rating?

Stronger LLD/HLD?

AWS certifications?

Networking and referrals?

Something else entirely?

I'm looking for honest feedback rather than motivation. If you think I'm spending too much time on something with low ROI, I'd genuinely appreciate hearing that too.

Thanks!
