I F-ING LOVE the R2 Metrotown ext.

Edit:
lol @ people downvoting me because they don't understand how I got to the R2 from New West.

Original post:
This is the greatest.

Went all the way to New West this evening from Richmond AND I COULD GO HOME on a single bus.

Fricken fantastic.

Thank you, drivers! I bet it's a fun route, now too instead of just going back and forth you get to drive across the entire city AND IT'S SO FAST.

It is significantly more effecient to just hop on the R2 than to seabus and SkyTrain it. No loud screeching tunnels. No sneezy & cough seabus rides. Straight there. Straight back. Super fast.

I love the R2 Metrotown extension. 🥰

Edit:
Allow me to explicitly detail my journey:
Walked down to Davie St from Waterfront Station after taking the seabus from NV.
Walked to Broadway / City Hall skytrain station.
Rode Canada Line down to Brighouse.
Took the 410 to 22nd St Station.
Took the Expo Line to New Westminster Station.
Took the Expo Line to Metrotown Station.
Took the R2 to Phibbs Exchange.
Walked home.

I didn't think it was ne,essary to detail my entire journey for you all. Excuse my insolence.

Would love to find a group of people to watch LOTR with every once in a while.

Have dinner, together and have some drinks then get cozy and watch one or two of the LOTR films!

Age range is general. Open to younger or older if it works. Monogamous. Send me a message!

I love playing music. I have played piano since I was a wee lad. I play guitar, I love playing drums, and I have a trumpet & saxophone tucked away for any occasion. I love to sing and I write & record my own music at home.

I enjoy casually researching archaeology. I like linguistic and etymological concepts such as comparing similarities between languages across cultures and periods.

I'm currently really interested in perfumery and have a beginner's collection of ingredients I intend on formulating my own fragraces from.

I also like writing and drawing.

I grew up before the internet. Walked my whole town by the time I was 12. Walked to school since I was 5. Things were so much simpler back then.

I'm vegan and I adore all nature's crazy and beautiful creatures. I have five favourite animals - guess!

I love K-pop - it is objectively great music and hosts some of the best songs of the 2020s.

Where are the ripe summer fruits in Vancouver?

I grew up in a small town in Alberta and we always had the BC Fruit Truck come into our little town every summer. The plums were always juicy and deep red. The cherries were always plump and sweet. The peaches were always dripping and fleshy. Everything was so damn good!

I expected, living in BC, I'd be surrounded by fresh juicy fruit all summer! After living in both Victoria and Vancouver for a combined total of fifteen years I have almost never found actually ripe fruit except directly on the farm or at farmer's markets. Victoria was way better for farmer's markets.

What is up with that? We get blueberries that are juicy and ripe here but not much else. The peaches are hard and go bad before they get fully ripe. The cherries are firm and flavourless. The plums are never juicy. Even the blackberries suck, here - I don't get it. The blackberries I had on a farm in Saanichton were like balloons of juice and so blackberry-flavoury. The ones I get, here in Vancouver are small, bitter and seedy.

I guess they send all the best produce out to other places, I'm not sure. 🤷‍♂️

Anyone else think the fruit in the city never meets expectations?

Where do I find it?

I can't drive, so I can't just travel all the way to Okanagan for fruit not would I. Are there no local markets that carry actual ripe fruit?

Ancestral Mexican Food

Check out Machete on Main Street a few blocks up from Main Street / Science World Station.

They make these amazing traditional drinks that are so refreshing on these hot days. Cacao lattes, turmeric lattes, and many special and delicious traditional beverages that makes me feel like I'm relaxing somewhere cozy, deep in the South American jungle.

Their specialty are their namesake Machete tacos which are like a really long taco with HANDMADE blue corn tortilla. Everything tastes so different than any kind of South American food I've ever had. It is such an awesome experience.

I wanted to try the most unique thing and decided to go for the huitlecoche corn truffle and it was really, really tasty.

It's a must-try. You've got to check this place out. 🤘

WTB Butterfly Peaflower Matcha!

If anyone knows what I'm referring to, you'll know how amazing this stuff is. I've only seen one café that serves it and they're not the greatest. I wonder if there are any local specialty shoppes which may carry the actual powder, itself.

I found one little shop on the north shore that has the whole flowers which, of course I could grind but I don't have a stone mortar while my walnut mortar has been used for spices for years and has absorbed a lot of spice oils... so, it's not a great option.

I'd really love to have a jar of butterfly peaflower matcha on hand at home. Apparently, it's actually really good for you so much as toted to be helpful for depression, even! I love the flavour.

I know Cultivate is a specialty tea shoppe specializing in sourcing very specific teas from specific regions of China... so, I wonder if they may carry it as an extra product.

Has anyone come across the matcha process blue butterfly peaflower powder anywhere in physical stores somewhere around Vancouver?

Any 1 % - 2 % local brews?

Hey, Van bubbies!

I love drinking beer but it's obviously not a good thing to do every single day (15 % - 30 % increased risk of dementia just one beer a day).

Do you have any suggestions for a really yummy local brew with a one or two percentage alcohol content?

I don't want to necessarily drink "non-alcoholic" beer but I'm not opposed to it if you have any suggestions.

I really love those sweet / sour beer like Beere makes or Okanagan's apple cider.

Are there any local BC breweries that offer low-alcohol brew?

I got thinking how ancient cultures would drink and that their beer had very low alcohol percentages compared to modern brews. I watched a Kurzesagt video titled 'Alcohol is Amazing' and it really hit hard that - and, I always say this- that it is, indeed a poison. The thing about acetaldehyde is pretty crazy...

...but, I really enjoy it. It's arguably healthier than soda pop without the alcohol and I'd love to find a beer that has those nice flavour profiles so characteristic of Vancouver brews.
