Stress triggered a nervous breakdown, what next?

Out of the blue I started having double hearing (diplacusis). If anyone can relate, you’ll know it sounds like double voices and music sounds distorted from the different pitches. Sounds demonic even... It gave me a panic attack and had wanted to end it right then and there. I was crying out of fear and desperation to get my hearing back.

I'm confident I experienced a complete nervous breakdown OUT OF NOWHERE triggered by stress buildup. I was chilling on the couch and randomly I got hit with this.

Now looking up threads because while the hearing issue is tapering off hours later, I’m so shocked at what happened.

I don’t know where to start to avoid this from happening or even growing into something far worse altogether.

The past few weeks I’ve just felt pretty numb to a lot of things. A lack of urgency, motivation, self care, etc. Waking up tired, not feeling energized, I wasn’t particularly sad though.

This ear thing was the car slamming the breaks. I don’t want to go deaf so little by little I need to change and take mental health seriously.

Work and life changes have stressed me out to the point I feel numb to the deadlines and 0 sense of urgency. I believe it's some weird extreme form of stress that my body is manifesting in physical ways.

Back in February, I experienced similar with tinnitus in one ear and I know I was stressing out. I've had eye twitching before too. Both eventually went away but nothing compares to this morning.

I’m still in disbelief. Almost as if my mind started attacking my body. So scary... I know the problems in the mind can manifest in the body.

What are the steps I can do to prevent this and or improve mental health.
Yes, I listen to earbuds for work related purposes most of the day but after this I'm no longer wearing any and will switch to headphones. I will also clear out earwax tonight with Debrox.
Any advice appreciated.

Puppy has made me forget who I am (WFH)

3 months ago my family decided to get a schnauzer puppy. I love puppies and this one is no exception, she’s made me cry from how happy she makes my parents. It’s been decades since I’ve seen them this happy. True blessing.

However, I work from home and mentally the puppy has been a huge source of distraction and takes up a lot of energy. Because I work from home I’ve been vigilant on her feeding and potty times and overall care along with my mom who also is home.

But this puppy has ultimately made me forget who I am and what I do for work.

The past few months, I’ve fallen behind deadlines, have lost my “spark” and lowered the quality of my work. I’m in a really bad slump despite her making everyone happy.

It’s as though she has this magnetic pull that ends up pulling me away from the person I used to be. Urgency or motivation for anything else has taken a massive toll. I feel like I've let myself go.

My workstation is not portable, I work in the living room where everyone plays with her and I can’t force or tell anyone in the family to not interact with her. I have headphones I can wear for that. I have to take care of her when they aren’t around because I obviously love and care about her wellbeing as well. And for my parent’s sake as well.

I guess I’m posting this for any advice on the mental side of things. Or to see if I’m the only one experiencing a lack of motivation/urgency for other things in life because of a puppy. The puppy blues have really affected me and I want to get out of this funk.

I don't want to regret tanking my career over a puppy who will hopefully last a good 15 years. I also love this puppy as well so I want to get out of these blues for her sake as well. :(

Any advice?

Advice for noisy enviornment, what headphones/gear do you use?

I work from home but family and pets are very loud and chaotic. Headphones or earbuds are a must but I don't know how healthy it is to wear them 8 hours a day or more.

I can't take my workstation to library or somewhere more quiet as I have to work at my desktop.
I can communicate boundaries clearly but I obviously can't control their noise, routines, etc so I have to adapt and overcome.

What angle do you have your drawing tablets at? How can I avoid distortion?

Applies to traditional materials as well, but what is the best angle to avoid drawing distortion?

My drawing tablet is angled at roughly 55 degrees but am curious to how you guys angle your drawing tablets, sketchbooks, canvases, etc. I want to best avoid drawing distortion.

What angle do you have your Cintiq at?

Curious to how you angle your Cintiqs to avoid drawing distortion, I'm guessing mine is at a 55 degree slant. But I don't know if that angle is distorting my work, so what do you guys use?

Chaotic crate advice?

My mini 12 weeks old and so far so good! I LOVE HER SO MUCH.
She's learned to redirect her attention to toy instead of skin most if not all times. When the teeth come out we say "NO" and stare for a few moments before giving her a toy.

So she is very well behaved but when she's in her puppy crate she'll turn chaotic for up to 5 minutes and in that span of time she will bite on anything inside the crate. Her bed, toys, crate bars, etc. She cries only for a minute but then it's like she doesn't know what to do with the energy and goes chaotic. This is after playtime session too. Eventually she will go to sleep for another 2-3 hours which is great for her.

But what worry is that she'll accidently hurt herself during those mini chaos zoomies as she settles down. This will go away with age right?

Any advice? I have 3 different toys for her, should I get more and what type do you recommend for her age?

How to Clean Cintiq 16 or 24 screen (2025)?

Yeah I have a small cloth I put a drop of water and wipe off any obvious smudges but sometimes it leaves smudges behind lol.

How does everyone maintain and clean their screens if they've accidentally sneezed or something?

Do you turn off cintiq when you turn off your computer?

Do you turn off your cintiq when you turn off the computer or do you let it just go into sleep mode? I have cintiq 16 (2025)

I’ve been turning it off before turning off my PC but somehow paranoid and wondering if just letting it do its sleep mode when turning off the PC is healthier for the cintiq overall.

I just got the Cintiq 16 (2025) tablet and currently have it on Nulaxy Laptop stand as I can't afford the Wacom stand at the moment

Currently the tablet rests on the stand which causes some of the cables to squish underneath. Here are some images. The cable has enough slack from where it connects to the tablet to the PC but I'm worried of the ports being damaged over time from the tablet resting on the stand. It's not sharply bent and the cable shelf protects the cable from where it initially comes out of the port. It does however, get rested on as it tapers out as you can see in the image.

What do you guys use to stand the Cintiq on? Currently can't get Wacom's stand, so for now I have it like this. Any suggestions to improve it? I don't want to damage the tablet or the cables. It's a great tablet, thanks to everyone who recommended it in my last post!

Looking to get the Cintiq 16 (2025) model but have a few questions:

  1. Are my tech specs good enough to draw on this without lag? I already have two monitors connected and bit of a tech boomer so I'll drop the specs:

CPU: intel i9-10900kf
GPU: Nividia rtx 2080 super
Ram: 32GB
Ports:
Six USB 2.0 ports
Five USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports
One USB 3.2 Gen 1 (Type-C) port with PowerShare
One USB 3.2 Gen 2 port
One USB 3.2 Gen 2 (Type-C) port
One USB 3.2 Gen 1 port with PowerShare
Three DisplayPort and one HDMI port
Desktop: Alienware R11 OS: Windows 11

2)Based on the specs, I need to buy a HDMI to MINI HDMI cable right? Is that the correct type?

  1. I've been using the intuos pro line for many years (nearly 13 years from Intuos 5), can someone tell me if they like the switch from intuos to the cintiq?

I'm restricted to getting the cintiq 16 due to desk size but my main monitor is 27in. I was looking for a cintiq for better faster drawing and more accurate linework but I feel just fine painting with the intuos pro (2017) So I'm not sure if it's worth the recommendation after having used the screenless tablets for so long

Curious to hear people's thoughts!
