Partying and rush?

I’m planning on rushing a sorority but I don’t wanna get dropped for partying during welcome week. Everything I’ve read says not to party before or during recruitment but I’ve also been reading that you meet some of your best friends during welcome week and I don’t wanna miss out on that because I can’t go out. Plus rush is like 3 weeks long so that’s a long time where I won’t be hanging out with people outside of school events. I’m going to the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign so the rush isn’t crazy but idk. Also how do I know what party’s are okay to go to and what ones are not? It’s all honestly so confusing so if anyone has advice please dm me hahaha

Is it okay to go out during recruitment if you don’t drink? Especially during welcome week

PCH + University Meal plan?

My roomie and I have opted to live at presby hall but they require a meal plan at presby which is kinda pricy. I’m a freshman and I don’t know how university dining usually works but I’m wondering if it’s a good idea to get the cheapest university meal plan as well or just play out of pocket? I’m worried that I’ll make friends that wanna meet up at other dining halls and having to pay each time. What should I do
