Ann Arbor v.s traverse city?

Have been here in A2/MI for a year now and want to explore some new place. Rent prices seem to be similar and my thought is if I’m paying this much already, I’d like to be closer to water/nature.
Some background about me: early 30’s, single, female, South Asian
I grew up in the south and in very white towns. I’m okay being the only person who looks like me—I just want to make sure the people around me won’t put on a red baseball cap or white hoodie…

Editing to add: I wfh, so I’m not looking for a job in tc

California Zephyr arrived early in Omaha

I (Early 30's, female, POC) rode the California Zephyr for the first time during the last week of April and just wanted to give a shoutout to the entire Amtrak staff for being beyond phenomenal. Along with the staff, I think I got super lucky with all the passengers on board. My seatmate I sat down next to one another as strangers, and we are now planning trips to see one another later in the summer (we live in different states). There were a few other guys on the train who brought guitars and other instruments, and they played it through the evening while we all sang along in the observatory. Our conductor was beyond hilarious, and it was obvious that the man loved his job. Our train was running early (something I hear rarely happens). We reached Omaha a bit before expected and then got to Denver about an hour early. Would love to connect with others who were on the train!!

How to constantly make new friends?

Hi folks! I moved to Michigan about a year ago and well…I am still looking for a friend/community. I’m quite used to moving to different places (I wfh and love exploring new places. Lived in 4+ states in 2025 and am still in touch with friends from all the previous places) and making new friends in the area. This move, however, has just been incredibly challenging for me to find anyone to vibe with. I’m in my early 30’s, female, poc, don’t have kids (the number of people my age who have a whole family and life, has been such a shock to me). Suggestions?

Thoughts on Michigan towns?

Hi Folks! I am new-ish to Michigan and looking for a new place to move to. Currently living in A2 but I WFH and can re-locate anywhere. Some background info about me: I am in my Early 30's, Female, POC, and love being around nature. I would like to live in a safe place where others around me are in a similar demographic as me. I was speaking with an Uber drivier and she helped me formulate the following list of potential places.

Ask: Is there a city that should not be on this list? Is there a place that I am missing? What cities should i make sure I def stay away from? If possible, I would love to hear specific apartments that you may have lived in where you had an excellent management (also apt complexes to stay away from?).
