Island Health New Graduate RN Program

Hi all, I'm an out-of-province new grad RN considering applying to Island Health. I'm wondering if other new grads have experience working with Island Health. I know the other new grad programs are typically a temp, 6-month-long employment. Is this the same as with Island Health? I am interested in starting in acute care and transitioning to specialty training in the ER after a year. How is the cost of living? How difficult is it to get a permanent position if they're also offering only temp positions? There wasn't much listed on the website, so any other insights on this authority will be helpful. Thank you!

New Grad ER interview

Hey all I have an ER interview coming up at abbotsford emergency. I’m wondering what sorts of questions they will ask and how I can best prepare for it. I’m assuming it will be a 6 month temp line as I applied through the Fraser Health new grad program. I’m curious if anyone has worked here knows if there will be able available permanent lines to transition to after?

I’ve also heard FH only does a few supernumerary shifts before you’re an actual staff member. I’m concerned as I don’t have any critical care experience and fear this may not be enough, I don’t want to jeopardize my nursing license but I’ve always wanted to train in the ED so looking for advice on this. Thank you.

Indiana new grad bonus

There’s a hospital in Indiana advertising $12000 USD sign on bonus for a 2 year commitment for med surg and behavioural units. I am wondering if anyone has applied and accepted a position with them and what their experience has been like. I’m really interested in pursuing psych nursing so looking into this at the moment.

Fraser Health new grad RN application process

Hey guys I was contacted by a recruiter two weeks ago to fill out my references. She also said she forwarded my resume another recruiter from a hospital that I had listed as my top choices. I’m wondering if this means I will be contacted for an interview soon? Just wondering what other new grad’s experiences was like after they had submitted references.

Hi all, I have just finished my BscN program and will be applying to new grad RN positions. I am wondering which provinces in Canada have strong new-grad programs. I have applied to positions within Alberta, where I did my schooling, and also the various B.C ones. Are there any other programs I should look out for? I have an interest in rural and mental health nursing, but im open to all areas to get my foot in the door. Thank you!

Also, if anyone has spare time to look over my resume, please do lmk!
