Sending my mega yacht to Laythe. The first step of the journey.
Some months ago I shared a video of a test run of my mega yacht (linked in the comments).
I gave it a massive overhaul and it’s now ready to go to its final destination: Laythe.
3 floors all connected, massively extended the floor inside the hull, all connected and walkable with free IVA, 134 seats, lots of comfortable habitats, labs, greenhouses, even a large fish tank, control rooms, a garage with science copter and much more that I can’t show in this video. Maximum stable speed of 120 m/s on the water surface.
I turned it into an SSTO of close to 1000 tons, brought it into a low kerbin orbit, sent a custom refuelling craft, and it’s now ready to depart. It’s a floating city, ready to explore the new water world. This whole process took way longer than I planned, so I’m only showing the first step of the journey for now. Whenever I find the time I’ll make a following video of the journey and life onboard on Laythe.
Any tips on a smooth landing are welcome. Tests of reentering kerbin and landing in the ocean were successful.
Low fps because the thing is truely massive. I’m hoping it will get better once I get rid of the wings and engines after landing.
Edit: ran out of fuel attempting to get to laythe orbit.
Option 1: send a tanker to refuell
Option 2: establish a small mining and delivery operation on one of the moons and be safe on fuel.
I’m not sure when, but I’ll land this thing one day.
