Sorry. I don't know where else to post this and I need an outlet. I haven't experienced anything more sobering in a while. I'm estranged from my parents for more than 10 years now. My whole family actually, a family of 8 and I'm only in touch with 1 sister.
Today I was feeling many feeling towards my dad. Which I grew up resenting in many ways. He's in his 80s now, I'm in my late 30s. The feeling were all love however, like I've been feeling for him lately. Just missing him, knowing he's getting older and weaker by the day. I had been putting it off for a while, to ask my sister how he is. And sure enough, he's had a stroke and been falling a lot, still smoking, sneaking behind backs to do it like a child. It's breaking my fucking heart. My mom isn't the kindest person, and she's mainly the reason I left it all behind. To be back in touch is like jumping into hell, I just can't do it, there is too much there.
