Is this pattern okay for business attire?

I’ve worn similar lengths/styles but nothing with this sort of pattern. Just trying to figure out if it’s professional enough for a daytime work event?

Is divorce as traumatizing for children with “a village”?

i’ve been thinking about this question a ton lately. is divorce as traumatic for kids who are a part of multigenerational homes and more collectivist cultures as it for kids whom are a part of a nuclear family unit?

related, what is it specifically about divorce that is traumatic for children? or does the trauma lie more in specific outcomes, versus the act of separation?

The sugar cookie is driving me crazy

does anyone know anything about their butter sugar cookies? i love them but they don’t show up on any ikea menus and i can’t find anything related to a recipe online, or even a photo suggesting that they actual exist.

they’re the most delicious sugar cookies i’ve tried, and i’ve been scouring the internet trying to figure out if i can buy them or make them.

i’ve only gone to ikea a handful of times, and so i may be misremembering the name. but they’re just these super soft, buttery sugar cookie that i am desperate to have more of.

if ariana is determined to be a singer-songwriter

i think she would really benefit from a college level creative writing/poetry/english course. i remember reading about olivia rodrigo taking a college level creative writing class, and her song lacy being the outcome. it’s a fantastic song, and a huge step up from her previous lyrics from sour.

for some artists writing comes naturally, but regardless i think it’s important that every creative hone and study their craft. and one of the best ways to do that is taking courses and working with experts no matter the craft. plus, you have someone who knows what they’re doing giving you feedback. their entire job is to help you improve

i do think she has some solid lyrics, but they are historically the weakest part of her music. i think she definitely has it in her to write good lyrics by herself but it’s clear to me that she needs better tools to get to that point.

maybe she is taking a class but i doubt it. the lyrics on petal are honestly a step down from ES which frankly does not have strong lyrics.

has anyone else thought about this?

Darker fantasy and/or horror novels with sapphic protagonists?

stealing this idea from the thread yesterday, but I would love some darker fantasy or fantastical horror books that just so happen to have sapphic protagonists! would love to read something that’s really exciting or builds into something really exciting/intense, like the movies Hereditary or The Descent.

no romantasy or sci-fi please! i also almost exclusively listen to audiobooks, so i’d prefer a book that already has that format available.

My favorites:

Hide by Kiersten White
The Dead and the Dark by Courtney Gould
What the Woods Took by Courtney Gould, (if you love sapphic horror courtney is your girl, the books are YA but a so incredible!!)
Into the Drowning Deep by Mira Grant
The Burning Kingdom series by Tasha Suri
The Roots of Chaos series by Samantha Shannon The Magic of the Lost series by CL Clark
Not Good for Maidens
The Last Hour Between Worlds
The Traitor Baru Cormorant
The Invocations
Once and Future Witches
Magic for Liars
Feast While You Can
Knock Knock Open Wide
The Unspoken Name
This River Has Teeth
Foundryside

Did not enjoy:
Gideon (i think i just don’t enjoy the protagonist, the jargon, nor the humor)
Malice
Sweet and Bitter Magic
Metal to Heaven
Auroras Angels
Princess of Dorsa
A Restless Truth
Fireheart Tiger
She Who Became the Sun
Hearing Red
A Dark and Drowning Tide
A Lesson in Vengeance
Our Wives Under the Sea (this a fantastic book, but I am simply not in the mood for lit fic at this current time of my life)
Carmilla (also a fantastic book, but I don’t like vampires, but am willing to read another one if it’s really really really good.)

thanks in advance!!

Does it take anyone else a ridiculously long time to figure out their emotions?

Especially the really bad and big ones?

Sometimes it’ll just hit me that I really don’t like how a friend’s been treating me for a while but before that I don’t even know I’m building up resentment. Like if you asked me before that very moment I would say nothing was wrong and genuinely mean it.

TW: Assault

I’ve been assaulted a few times in my life, and each time it’s taken me a long time to parse out that it was assault. Even for more clear cut ones like I’m pretty sure I was drugged or something one time because that night was so blurry, (tmi sorry!!) but I also woke up in pain with my tampon lodged inside me.

But for more subtle stuff like what happened w a coworker I have really go step by step to parse out how I felt. Like yes, I repeatedly said no probably 30 times till I just let it happen, and I did not make eye contact ever (which is not what i do when i’m sending i like you signals), yes he kept pushing my boundaries repeatedly further and further, yes, he kept trying to remove my clothes even tho I asked him to please stop, no nothing about my body language was reciprocal, yes i almost started crying when he got undressed, and no, i never initiated touching him.

But then I look at some of my reactions afterwards like feeling like I had to want him in order for any of what had happened to make sense. I remember we texted some time afterwards and I said something of that sort and then immediately blocked him because I felt this immediate panic that what I said wasn’t true.

It’s like conceptually I know my boundaries, and I can tell when something makes me feel bad. But it’s very difficult for me to use those feelings to come to accurate conclusions. Like identifying my emotions often feels like a fucked up rorschach test, if that makes any kind of sense. My feelings are just big blobs that I can’t make a thing out of.

Why are people saying her singing has gotten worse?

I’ve seen folks argue that her singing is better than ever because of the techniques she learned from wicked, while I’ve also seen people say her singing has gotten a lot worse.

I don’t know anything about the mechanics/technique in regard to singing, and I’m genuinely curious what specific elements of her current singing voice makes some people believe it’s deteriorating?

How go about adding a large amount of gooey filling to a cookie?

I’m going to attempt to make a copycat of these insomnia summer strawberry cookies as they’re so good but also limited edition. I’ve found a sugar cookie recipe to follow, but I’m having to freestyle the filling myself.

I’m very very new to baking, but I’d love tips on how maintain a gooey center, without underbaking the cookies and also maintaining to the very soft texture of the cookie.

Is there also something anything I should know about crafting a good cookie filling in general? Certain ingredients to avoid, etc?
