quesma.comBenchmarking Claude Opus 5, Kimi K3, Grok 4.5, and Gemini 3.6 Flash on Baba Is You
We previously created an open-source benchmark baba-is-harbor, also sharing in here on r/ClaudeAI.
There are a few exciting model releases: Kimi K3, Grok 4.5, Gemini 3.6 Flash, and Claude Opus 5. It was a fruitful July!
We decided to rerun this benchmark for these new models.
In particular - is Claude Opus 5 cheaper than Fable 5?
And could you guess which model is the most expensive?
Wheel, cycle, chakra, pole, colony, telephone, and palindrome all turn out to share the same PIE root, *kʷel-
One more in the series, after Tree, truth, druid, dryad, tar and dendrite grew from one Proto-Indo-European root, *deru- and Druid, wizard, Providence, Ayurveda, visualization and idea have the same PIE root, *weyd-.
This time *kʷel-. I focused only on English words, and for Greek words added English transcription.
[OC] Visualization, idea, druid, wizard, Providence and Ayurveda share the same Proto-Indo-European root, *weyd-
Do you know that druid, wizard, Providence, Ayurveda, vision and idea share the same Proto-Indo-European root? So do Slavic wiedźma (witch), wieszcz (poet-prophet) and widmo (spectre).
Previously, I made The Tree of Tree with some success here. This time I picked the root *weyd- and decided to go for a static image.
Out of many words, I picked ones related to spirituality and magic. While I mainly focused on English words, I added a few words from my native Polish language to provide relevant Slavic examples.

I used popular sources, so my contribution is the visualization. If you prefer to see it as a website, with sources, see https://p.migdal.pl/pie-roots/weyd-magic/ with data in https://github.com/stared/pie-roots.
Baba Is Solved by Fable 5 and GPT-5.6 Sol, but at what cost?
A year ago the best model, Claude Sonnet 4, could solve the very first level - and nothing more.
I investigated if current AI models are any better.
They can solve The Lake... but [TOKEN] [IS] [MELT].
For code to run it, see https://github.com/stared/baba-is-harbor (requires you to have a copy of the game)

See The tree of 'tree' — an explorable explanation. Looks the best on desktop (especially the dynamic transitions), but can be viewed on mobile as well.
I created this chart afterwards, to also provide a static form.
