Rod length for shore fishing in Maine - 6 feet good enough?

I'm visiting family in Maine around Labor Day. I usually only fish freshwater but want to try for some beginner saltwater species (thinking mackerel and pollock - I hear they're plentiful and good to eat). I'd be fishing from shore.

I'm reading recommendations to use an 8 foot rod to cast past the rocks. Can anyone who fishes in this kind of situation advise on how important that extra reach is? I'd default to the 6 foot rod I already have but if that's likely to be an exercise in frustration I have no problem getting one that's longer. I already have a saltwater reel FWIW.

Thanks!

Response rate from mailers for online survey? Potential pitfalls?

We may have access to a very large set of valid physical addresses to use for general population surveys. I've never recruited for that kind of thing via mailers (I'm thinking postcard with QR code) only via panels.

Any perspectives on response rate? I'm thinking we'd do a $5-10 digital gift card incentive, perhaps capped to the first X number of respondents to safeguard our budget.

Or other success/horror stories?

What role with CRM data?

Background: I lead an in-house consumer insights team at an organization that operates a small number of B2B brands. We have software that is kind of like a CRM but lacks the data integration and targeting capabilities you'd expect. We're heading towards expanding our capabilities by switching to Hubspot or something similar.

The question: What role would/could an insights team play in establishing and getting value from a CRM? We aren't marketers or product managers... but as a team that exists to help people in those roles make data-driven decisions it seems like we should be in the mix somehow.

Thanks for helping me think this through!

2024 Rock Creek - fit 17 inch tire (18 inch is stock)?

AI says that the Pathfinder Rock Creek brake calipers are larger than would fit inside a 17 inch wheel. That's probably true but I'm hoping an actual human with experience can confirm.

Satellite view of deer trails

Am I thinking about this right?

Noticed what I think are trails on a satellite view of a marshy/tall grass area. This was a leaf off photo, so I'm guessing taken in very early spring, which would mean these trails would represent late fall movement and be good indicators of deer activity during rifle season.

This makes sense, right?

Indicator to park car as far to one side of garage as possible without hitting the garage door frame?

I have a narrow garage and a wide car. I like parking my car as far to the right side of the garage as possible but I'm nervous about swinging so wide that I hit the right side of the garage door frame.

I've been thinking about mounting a mirror in the garage door corner at an angle where I can get a semi overhead view of the gap between the car and the door frame.

Does anyone have a better idea? Or done something similar?

Rock creek - replace cross bars on roof rack?

I'm looking at a 2024 Pathfinder Rock Creek. It looks good, except that my roof mounted bike racks and rooftop box probably won't mount to the unusually wide (as in the fore to aft measurement) cross bars.

Has anyone replaced the cross bars with aftermarket bars of a more normal width?

Gaia GPS and OnX?

Anyone used either of these on their watch? I'm looking for a backcountry navigation option and considering a Wear OS watch if either of these apps works well (shows a basemap, saved routes and waypoints, and current location).
