A moment for Kelly Bishop please!

Can we take a moment here to appreciate Kelly Bishop's acting skills? Her performance was so on point. Everything was conveyed just with her eyes. She wouldn't have to explain what she's feeling, it was just obvious. There were moments I hated her, supported her, cried with her and laughed with her. Somewhere I think she is my favourite, purely because of her performance.

One of my favourite scenes

This scene isn't talked about enough. It's so profound, we all felt his pain in that silence. Without them having to utter a word or shed a tear. This is why I love the writing of this show. Even though Jay is such a funny character, he holds so much depth that comes out every now and then, without the show explicitly talking about it.

One of the most insufferable scenes

Irrespective of how much I enjoy watching Gilmore Girls, this scene is something I just cannot. This is when Rory is dating Dean, but kissed Jess. And is now complaining to her mother about how it's bothering her that Jess is kissing someone else. That spoilt brat attitude and the utter denial is just too much 😭 Lorelei really needed to call this out more. Did Rory really need this repeated cheating and 'being the mistress' storyline?

Flow (2024)

I watched it last night and I haven’t stopped thinking about it. It’s honestly a masterclass in visual storytelling without trying too hard.

A few things that really stood out to me:

  1. It trusts you to get it. You see ruins, rising water, and that’s it. you just *know* humanity’s gone. No exposition, no hand-holding. They repeat small visual cues too, like an object showing up again later, now half-submerged. Suddenly you feel the passage of time and danger without a single word.
  2. The colour work is doing heavy lifting. It starts off pretty vibrant, then slowly shifts into darker, more ominous tones as things get tense. There are moments where it almost goes monochrome, and it really sells that feeling of isolation.
  3. The characters actually mean somethin

g

  1. The secretary bird was my favourite. It’s not just “a cool bird”. It clearly represents something deeper (sacrifice, compassion, maybe even a kind of higher consciousness). The whole arc with it getting rejected by its flock and then guiding the journey felt very intentional.

I could keep going because there’s a lot packed into this film.

What’s wild is that it was made by a small team using Blender. Kind of a good reminder that great work isn’t about having the perfect setup.. it’s about how you use what you have.

Why did they breakup?

Why did these two have to breakup for Lily to go to another city and try out an art course? Is she not allowed to have new thoughts and explore now that she is engaged?

And my question is for both.. why did they BOTH think that there is no other way but to break up?

Was this the show trying to indicate that she was having a larger crisis, maybe about Marshall, and it wasn't really about her art?

Just a thought, maybe I missed something.
