Help ID’ng silver plate?

Ive got a bunch of junk aircraft AC power contactor assemblies. They have several big threaded lug contacts, that look to be silver plated copper. Non magnetic, fairly heavy for size, silvery white appearance . I filed the top of one down 2-3mm, and its still silvery colored. I put some bleach on it and got nothing.

Any ideas?

Scrapping old rotary phones?

Local guy has a giant pile of these….wants $3 a piece. I know they each have a couple of brass bells, some small transformers, maybe small silver plated contacts etc. They potentially have anything to else? Palladium contacts or anything? Don’t think its worth it at $3 a piece but if there is hidden treasure inside…maybe.

Business license to sell stripped wire in Arizona-Questions

For those who don’t know, in Arizona its illegal for scrap yards to buy stripped copper wire, unless its from an “industrial account” or another licensed scrap dealer.

My yard says I just need a “business license” on file. But they dont really seem to know what that means exactly. Anyone have any experience with this? I can get an EIN, and an LLC or something if needed, no problem. But I dont know if that will work. The verbiage in the actual law is pretty vague, and the yards dont really seem to know.

Thanks!

Anything in particular to look for when scrapping old server computers?

Got this Gateway 975 rqck PC and routers/switches. Early 2000’s stuff, no hard drives, Unknown working condition. Essentially worthless for resale. So they get the hammer and snips.

Anything of particular value I should be looking for? Outside the obvious copper/aluminum/wires/boards etc. any little components on the boards that would be worth harvesting?

MX350 36v upgrade questions

Sons MX350’s batteries are toast. Ive got a bunch of 5ah 18v dewalt batteries. Looking at the ~$50 36v throttle/controller kits on amazon.

Any issues with these? Any particular one I should avoid/prefer?

How long will the original motor last?

How fast will it be? Hes 10, super reckless and rowdy, and very little experience with motos. Dont need him on a 30mph bike zooming around our crowded neighborhood just yet.

Thanks!

Moral dilemma (take or not?)

Background- Im active duty Mil, for the past 22 years. Throughout my career, I’ve made a substantial amount of money flipping or scrapping things I find in base dumpsters, base housing sidewalk treasure piles, etc. I never take stuff I know isn’t garbage or being (legally) given away.

Situation- my base decided to demo several huge overhead shelter structures. Picture a steel framed tin shed, only 60’ high and a 100’ wide. They had big overhead lighting and 110v outlets throughout. The base hired a civilian contractor to demo. Gave them an empty lot on base as a staging area for their equipment and stuff. For a couple months, i watched them take the structures down, trailer the huge steel girders to their yard, and eventually haul them away.

The shelters are now gone, and i havent seen the workers for weeks. Their lot is empty save for one big semi trailer flatbed, and in one corner, a fairly substantial pile of mangled 4” steel conduit full of heavy copper wire, several big circuit breaker panels, and a handful of waist high transformers.

Ive been eyeballing that pile for weeks now. Im assuming the demo guys set it aside to scrap for some bonus cash, and the last thing I want to do is take that money from them. But sooner or later some Lt. Col. Is gonna get tired of looking at that trash pile and have someone take it to the dump.

For anyone that worked big demo jobs like that, do you have any insight? Why wouldn’t they have taken that stuff to scrap already? How long do I wait to grab it?

Where two sell big Jukis?

First off, my apologies, this isnt directly related to gear making….but its kind if relevant.

I recently came into possession of two behemoth sewing machines, a Juki 1508NH and a 1510-7.

Problem is, they are both projects. The 1510 appears complete, although I had to disassemble it from the table, but has the motor/controller and oil/air mechanism.

The 1507 looks like it has some components removed off of the machine itself, and the motor has a cracked/broken mounting bracket.

I dont know if either one works.

I literally saved them from a scrap pile going into a dumpster.

What do I do with them? I know they have value (although not sure how much given their conditions) and someone would be thrilled to have one, or both. Any suggestions on who to look for? Sewing machines repair shops? Upholstery shops?

What do I have? Is it authentic/period?

Found this in a thrift store duffel bag I bought…its about 4” square. Can’t tell if its some kind of modern repro or not. Is it worth anything?

How did I do? (Goodwill suit find)

I dont know anything about suits, or mens fashion in general (I didn’t even own a suit until just now), but this thing just seemed super high quality, had matching pants, fit me reasonably well, and was $10.

Then i do a little research when I get home….and holy shit, is this a $5k+ suit??!! Is this a real Oxxford Clothing hand-made suit??

Anyone help me ID this, maybe give me a valuation? Because if it is what I think it is…well…there was a matching tuxedo on the rack that I left. Which I will promptly rectify.

Thanks!

Anyone recognize this piece?

2004 crew cab 4x4, front bench seat.

Got in the truck one day and found this piece on drivers floor, kinda under the pedals. Everything seems to work, tilt, pedal adjust, seat slide and recline, shifter, e-brake. Assumption is it dropped from under the dash, but maybe not, could have been kicking around the floor for who knows how long.

Any ideas?
