Getting discouraged

In my 16th year of this journey, but only got diagnosed just over ten years ago. Had surgery. All kinds of meds. Had Dupixent. Now Nucala. Very greatful to have the access and availability so don't get me wrong. I am absolutely blessed. But today I went in for another checkin. Haven't had a sense of smell in months. And my polyps grew again. Will this ever end?

Fyi:

- surgery 10 years ago

- over 1 year of dupixent/nucala

- Fluticasone in AM and PM

- on keto diet

- BMI healthy, fit

1 week of Go 6 Gen 2

I love reading about everyone's experiences and spent months researching whether I should get the Palma 2 or the Go 6, so here's an honest, non-AI review for anyone who needs it. I ordered the Gen 2 on the 17th, and it arrived on the 18th.

I already owned the bigger Nova device (2021), so I'm very used to the interface already and didn't come from a Kobo or anything like that.

I love it! The size is perfect. I'm already picking it up much more than my Nova. It's ideal to take with me in my handbag and it is a snuggy size for nighttime reading. It's small, but it also looks different from a phone, which makes it clear to others that you're reading instead of checking your phone. I loaded my library of about 60 books onto it, and there's still plenty of space for hundreds of books.

I did get a cheap second-hand USI 2.0 pen, but not the original one. For me, the real one was a bit too costly, and I'm not sure how much I'll actually use it. This pen works fine, but to be honest, I find myself highlighting sentences more by hand than with the pen, and I'm not sure I'll be making notes very often. It's more of a reading device than a note-taking one.

The only downside is that I spent a day at the beach and didn't realize there's a tiny gap between the screen and the frame where little grains of sand can get stuck. I managed to remove them, but it was a lesson not to take your e-reader to the beach without protection. I bought one of those waterproof covers now for reading at the beach or by the swimming pool.

Apart from that, if you're thinking of getting the Palma but actually are not looking for a device to replace your phone and genuinely just want a smaller ereader, I'd say this is worth it and will save you money.

Books like The White Masai

I randomly once picked up The White Masai by Corinne Hofman one day at a thrift shop. It's not particularly well written but it's just so interesting, a memoir published years ago (1998) by a Swiss woman recounting her experiences of falling in love with a Maasai warrior while on a holiday with her fiance. What happens next is just.. so much (I don't wanna ruin it for who else is interested in reading.)

I devoured that book, because it all actually happened, and regardless of how naive this lady perhaps was, her experiences of living with the Maasai just gives a glimpse into a life I found fascinating. What other books do you recommend of memoirs, real life experiences, offering glimpses into totally different lives and realities and also makes your jaw drop here and there about the decisions made by the main characters? Doesn't need to be in other countries, could be anywhere.
