How to repair burn mark on velvet fabric

How to repair burn mark on velvet fabric

I made the mistake of leaving an incense unattended near my ottoman with a fan blowing. The incense stick knocked onto the ottoman and this caused the fabric to burn for a few seconds. There isn’t a hole but it is left with this burn mark. Is there any way to fix it?

I’ve tried wiping it with a damp cloth, using a toothbrush and wire brush to try to gently comb it out. What else can I do?

Blocked ears?

I have been sick for the last week or so and have been extremely congested. Yesterday, I was on the couch and yawned. When the yawn was over, my left ear was muffled, kind of similar to the feeling after my ear pops when I'm on a plane. I tried not to panic and wen to bed that night. This morning, I woke up and noticed it slightly improved but it still felt "blocked." I went to work and about an hour in, I yawned AGAIN and my ear reset back to that congested blocked feeling. Now, I'm freaking out especially after reading about eustachian tube dysfunction. I am a musician and cannot stand the idea of losing hearing, even partially. I'm going to try to make an ENT appointment but what can I do in the meantime?

Is New Teacher Finder enough?

I am working on getting my Trans-B certification and plan to teach full-time in September. I uploaded a new teacher application. Where do I go from here? How do I actually go about securing a job?

Should I work at a D75 school?

I’m applying to schools and have an interview for a middle school position in D75. I’ve heard many horrible things but the teachers I know who do work in these schools seem very passionate about it. Tell me about your experiences and if you’d recommend it.

My band is fairly new. We've been together, practicing religiously for the last couple of months. We've been able to chalk up a few demos of our best songs. They're not the best and none of us are great at mixing so it feels weird sending them out knowing we're not 100% satisfied with them but I figured it's better than having nothing to show for. We are hungry to start playing live to start getting ourselves out there and gaining experience playing live as a band.

What exactly do we need to do right now to keep ourselves on track? We're trying to be realistic but ambitious and pacing ourselves so we don't burn out but also maintain momentum so we don't just dry up and give up before we ever become anything.

We don't have a band EPK yet because we haven't really done much on paper.
We're working on getting some photos done, establishing somewhat of a social media presence, and want to play shows this summer. I think this is a good goal for now?

Any advice is greatly appreciated, we're all kind of clueless about this stuff.

I’m on track to getting my Trans-B for SWD All grades but I need to pass the EAS and CST Multi-subject exams.
Here’s what I’ve taken:
EAS - passed
CST Multi-subject (5-9) Part One ELA: passed
CST Multi-subject (5-9) Part Two Math: did not pass
CST Multi-subject Arts & Sciences Part Three: passed

Part three Arts & Sciences is taken by all grade bands.

I honestly wasn’t confident that I passed ELA or Math so I scheduled to take the ELA and Math grades 1-6 next weekend.
I ended up passing ELA so should I cancel and not take 1-6?

If I take and pass Math 1-6, will it be okay if my ELA test is 5-9?
Or do they have to be in the same grade band and I have to retake 5-9 Math again?

I had an interview with a middle school in D75 and a few hours later, they asked if I can do a demo lesson. I feel a bit anxious about it. I've been a sub para for 6 months and I haven't had to manage my own classroom before so I'm wondering what it will be like. What can I expect and how can I prepare for this demo lesson?

Also, they warned me that this population does have students that have behavioral issues, which I'm not new to. But I have not been in settings where biting, scratching, hitting, spitting, etc. is a thing.

How do you deal with these behaviors? What else should I look out for in the interview process so that I can find the right fit for me?

I (28F) started going to physical therapy this week and I am really sore. From my understanding, this will never "fix" my scoliosis but it is meant to help me strengthen my back muscles so that it doesn't get worse as I get older.

My PT told me that the plan is to do this twice a week for the next few months and go from there. I've seen some people on here say that patients like me should expect to continue PT sessions for the rest of my life. Is this true? Or will I eventually not need it? Or at least not need it as often?

Also, he has not brought up the schroth method with me at the first session. Do PTs usually not start with that when treating scoliosis patients? I'd be interested in trying it and on his website, it shows that he does it. Should I bring it up?
