I’m 43f. A few weeks ago, I went to urgent care because I thought I had some kind of eye infection. My undereyes were burning, itchy and very wrinkled as if I’d aged 20 years. The doctor there diagnosed me with eczema and prescribed me 2.5% hydrocortisone and told me to put it on my undereyes twice a day for a week. I only used it for five days. The wrinkles, burning and itchiness immediately came back even worse within 3 days of stopping the hydrocortisone. I am now terrified that I’ve permanently damaged myself and it will never look like it used to again. So I guess my questions are:

1. Does using 2.5% hydrocortisone on the undereye skin cause permanent damage if you only use it for five days? Was my doctor a quack and now I’m like this forever?
2. Has anyone else been prescribed this strength for their undereyes and had it turn out okay eventually?

I’m really scared that this is a life sentence. My undereyes look horrible now (even though they looked horrible before the hydrocortisone during the flare-up, but I feel like they’re worse now) and I would feel better just knowing the truth about whether or not this hydrocortisone could have permanently ruined them.
