Beginner question: how do I build a good MCP roster ??

Hello Reddit :)

I recently had an intro game to Marvel Crisis Protocol and found it very fun, so I’m debating getting into it.

However, I’m a little bit confused about how I should go about building my roster of 10. Any tips would be appreciated.

Are there any simple guidelines for building a roster? For example, how many heavy hitters do you usually bring? How important is movement? Are there certain roles or tools I should make sure to include?

Basically, I’m looking for anything that makes it easier to know what to look for when evaluating what to buy.

How does cascade work with a 1-mana Sliver and no 0-mana cards?

Okay, so I’m making a The First Sliver Sliver deck to have something simple to play at the end of the night.

My question is about its ability. It gives all my Sliver spells cascade, right?

So what happens if I cast a 1-mana Sliver, but I don’t have any 0-mana cards in my deck? Do I just exile my whole library and deck myself, or does something else happen?

Spoiler ep5 question about Kim Jea-soo (gamer boy)

Just finished episode 5, where Kim Jea-soo opens up about not getting picked, and first off, damn, super sad! I was rooting for him; he seems like a good guy!

Does anybody know if he found someone outside? Because I am about 99% sure he is not finding anyone inside.

Progression Fantasy/LitRPG fan looking to try wuxia or xianxia — where should I start?

Hello Reddit,

I’ve been into Progression Fantasy and LitRPG for a few years now. I’ve tried almost all the main big ones, like Cradle, Primal Hunter, and Dungeon Crawler Carl, but I’ve read a lot about wuxia, xianxia, and Chinese progression fantasy being the “original” or sister genres to Western progression fantasy.

With that in mind, could any of you point me in a good direction as a newbie to wuxia/xianxia literature?

I’d love an Audible/audiobook version if possible, and preferably a good example of the genre.

Also, please no Gary Sues who are already the most powerful character by book 2. Looking at you, Jake from Primal Hunter.

ELI5 why can’t they just reframe the Odyssey for normal cinema?

As I see a lot of stuff about the “true” way of watching the new Odyssey movie, and how only like 10 cinemas in the world can show it, why can’t they just reframe the imax for normal cinemas? Use less of the sides?

Or is it more of a fidelity question?

Edit:
Just to clarify, I know it’s going in normal cinemas. It’s more based on all the content I’m seeing online about how much it’s cropped in?

Question About Commander Tax

Hello, just a quick question about commander tax.

I was playing a game against a mutate deck, and my opponent said that the mutate cost isn't affected by commander tax when their commander is cast from the command zone. Is this true?

Looking for “engineering sci-fi” book recommendations

Hello Reddit,
I need some help finding books. :)
I’ve really found a love for what I’ve started calling “engineering sci-fi.” I have a deep love for The Martian, Project Hail Mary, and all the Bobiverse books.
I love books dedicated to solving problems by making new technology, engineering solutions, or just figuring things out step by step.

New fan looking for “homework” to better understand the sport

Hello Reddit,
I’m a new fan of the sport, brought in by FIFA, as I imagine a lot of new people are.

I’m loving it so far, but I still find myself a bit out of my depth when it comes to the rules, gameplay, and how to judge a game properly.

So I’m asking this wonderful group to recommend some “homework” for me.

YouTube videos, podcasts, and the like would be lovely.

I’m especially looking for YouTube videos focused more on gameplay, not just the rules, but what actually makes a play good. Podcasts about the World Cup would also be great.

When recommending games, what similarities matter most to you?

Title: When recommending games, what similarities matter most to you?
Hello Reddit <3

This is a question I have been thinking about for some time.

I see a lot of TikToks where people say, “If you like X game, you should try Y game.” I always find this interesting, as I am always looking for something new :)

But then something weird happened. Someone said, “If you like God of War on PS5, you should try Hades.” As a person who has played both, I found this recommendation a bit strange.

Then it hit me: I am a mechanics boy at heart. Meaning, if I am looking for a game similar to another game, I am usually looking for similar mechanics.

So this made me wonder: when you recommend a game based on someone liking another game, what are you thinking of? Is it story, music, art style, mechanics, gameplay, genre, tone, or something else?
What goes into your thought process when making recommendations?

Looking for progression fantasy / LitRPG with strong worldbuilding and clever power systems

Hello 😄 and sorry for a long post 😄

I am asking the great minds of Reddit for a new series. I quite like LitRPG and progression fantasy, and I’m looking for a new series to sink my teeth into.

A little bit about what I like: I personally lean more fantasy, so I am a bit skeptical of the more sci-fi elements. I love, love, love a fleshed-out world and a great power system. I especially loved the worldbuilding in The Primal Hunter, Arcane Ascension, and Cradle.

I also love a good fighting arc, but I am mostly a big, big fan of MCs who like to tinker with their abilities, like in Arcane Ascension, Mother of Learning, and Super Powereds.

I can also be weak for city builders and world explorers, though I haven’t read as many of them. I love an epic story, or a story that keeps expanding. Full-on slice of life can become a bit too boring for me, but I don’t mind large parts of it say 50%, to put a number on it.

Now, on to what I don’t like.

I am not a fan of Mary/Gary Stus. If the MC is overpowered from the get-go, I just get turned off. That is why I gave up on The Primal Hunter, even though the world was amazing. I’m not here to read about an author’s favorite little boy.

I have no problem with characes being powerful, or becoming the most powerful, like Carl from Dungeon Crawler Carl, Wei Shi Lindon from Cradle, or Goku. I just want it to feel earned.

I am also not a big fan of harems, murderhobos, or edgelords. Again, that was my biggest problem with The Primal Hunter, and the primary reason I had to give up on it.

Small caveat on the murderhobo thing: I understand and am okay with the MC having to fight and kill monsters, enemies, and competitors. That is part of the genre. What puts me off is more when the MC revels in killing, enjoys it too much, or the story treats casual murder as cool and edgy.

I also prefer audiobooks over reading, so a good audiobook version is a big plus. I would also love it if the series had more than two books out already, since I like having a lot to dig into once I get hooked.

my fav, Cradle, arcane accention, DCC mother of learning and super powered.

So, based on all that, what series would you recommend?
