How can I cut or shave this down?

Hello all. There is this thick plexiglass like covering under the balcony on the door. It keeps catching on the other door and If I can shave or cut the lower part by a half inch that should fix it. Any ideas?

What type of mortar should be used here?

Hello all. I'm starting to get estimates for some touch up brick work needed. Some parts are missing pieces of mortar by the 2nd floor windows.

Just want to make sure these guys will use the proper mortar. A few bricks have spalling as well. This house was built around 1930.

What type of mortar should be used here? We're in the Northeast. Rough and icy winters.

Any NYC plumbers? Question on gas stove line in basement?

Hello all. Hypothetical question. A 2 family home in NYC has a gas stove in basement. If the DOB comes in and sees it, how is this remedied? I've been reading that architects, permits, plumbers needed etc. Can cost $30k to fix.

Is this accurate. Can it just be capped or do all the walls need to be ripped up to verify the gas line?

Crazy stuff.

[Landlord US-NY] Advice on tenant application template and a credit search platform?

Hello all. I'm going to be listing a 1 bedroom unit in my home this week. I'm doing it myself otherwise I would have to pay an agent 1 months fee.

A few questions.

  1. Where can I find a good tenant application template?

  2. Would also like a recommendation on a solid credit and background search platform.

  3. Also, if I get a number of folks interested, let's say 10 people that are interested, do I feel them out first and then run a search? I'm going to charge $30 for an application fee if I run the credit.

I've never done this myself before.

Thank you.

What can I plug this hole with?

Hello all. A contractor replaced my garden hose pipe because it rusted out. Replaced it with a thinner copper pipe and now there is a large gap around. The other side of the pipe is semi enclosed under a balcony and he plugged it with some clear silicone. I don't need it to look pretty but want to keep the really cold air out in the winter.

What can I use to plug it with?

Can't turn shut off valve. What can I do?

Hello all. This line goes to the outside hose. I tried shutting it off and the handle hits the metal framing half way. What can I do? Does the handle come off? Maybe swap it with a shorter one?

Help with roof type and how to preserve for a bit longer? Picture inside

Hello all. New homeowner here. Was told this was put in 4-5 years ago.

I noticed a lot of granules on the floor in the backyard (roof slopes toward the back for drainage) over the last few wind and rainstorms we've had. I'm a bit concerned as I've been reading this means it is on its way out, and a replacement here can go for 40k.

First, is anyone able to confirm the type of roof overlay this is? Is it asphalt or bitumen or a mix?

Second, anything I can do to stop the granules from coming off? I was walking up there to clean the gutters the other day and can feel the grittiness walking on it.

Thank you.

LG washing machine very loud. Is this normal? Video inside

Hello all. We have this LG washer dryer combo. The washing machine seems very loud and seems like it wobbles while spinning. I believe only towards the end of the cycle. Is this normal? Just moved in so have nothing to compare it to.

Input on bricks getting white and brick fillers (pictures inside)

Hello all. Would appreciate input on two items

  1. Some parts of my brick wall seem to be getting a white powdery look to them. I believe it's from water dripping on them from the porch/balcony when it rains. How can I remove this?

  2. What is a good durable filler I can use for some holes throughout the mortar? Is the DAP textured concrete filler any good? Found it online.

Hello all. Had two new radiators installed a couple of months ago. When they heat up, they still smell very bad. Anything I can do? I don't know if it's the actual radiator or the pipe dope that was used? For now I'm closing the one in my kids room. It's been a while and the smell should have disappeared by now.
