Just wanted to come on here and remind everybody of how the Houston Astros cheated and got a World Series out of it. They only apologized because they got caught and would still be doing it most likely if they were never caught. As a former Pitcher myself, I would have a hard time pitching against them because I would want to beam every batter that I faced. Biggest cheating scandal is MLB and they virtually got no punishment.

Hey everyone, looking for some advice because I’m trying to take investing more seriously long term.

I’m 30, self-employed, and own a small business with no employees. My income has been steady the last few years and I’ve been maxing out my Roth IRA every year. Outside of that, most of my extra money just sits in savings/business accounts because I honestly never learned much about investing.

I keep hearing people talk about putting money into the S&P 500 and just consistently investing over time. Is that really the best route for someone in my position?

A few things about my situation:
• No spouse or kids currently
• Own a home, mortgage and utilities are my only monthly payments besides phone, etc.
• No business partners/employees
• Zero personal debt
• I set aside money for taxes
• Looking more for long term wealth building than gambling/speculative stuff
• Okay with moderate risk if it makes sense over 20–30 years

Main things I’m wondering:
• Should I mainly focus on S&P 500 index funds?
• Should I open something besides a Roth IRA since I’m self-employed? I also have Standard IRA

Would appreciate hearing from people who were in a similar position or self employed themselves.
