I admit, this is kinda fun... Spending money on people for free

After having CSR from the beginning I was planning to cancel soon because of the high AF, and I live in the boonies and can't take advantage of most of these credits.

But then I realized I could buy stuff for my sister who lives in Dallas. I just got her 2 tickets to Guns n Roses (better seats, so cost $25), and $150 gift card for a restaurant (cost $0). I can never find good value on The Edit hotels where I travel, but I can get her a staycation without paying much.

It's pretty fun buying people things that don't cost you anything :-)

Did they get rid of the ability to see all tabs from all windows?

I keep trying things I find online but they're out of date.
List all tabs only shows me the tabs in that window. How do I get all the tabs in all the windows?

Thanks

Rules on changing a leg of a flight (Aeroplan/United in this case)

I've never quite understood the rules on changes to part of an award flight. My current flight is an Aeroplan award, which starts with a short leg on United then a long leg on Lufthansa.

  1. Booked a J award but the first leg is in coach. I guess first wasn't available in saver. Do I monitor for a first class saver award to come up in that leg, then call and ask for it?
  2. For that first leg, there's a flight that originates in an airport closer to me and I'm not sure why that one wasn't available in coach when I booked. I'm wondering if they didn't show it because the layover was too long. It's 7 hours but that's still better than me driving 3 hours to the other airport. Any chance they'd switch it for me if it's available? (Even with a change fee?)

Thanks

Update: If I search on Aeroplan, it doesn't show the short flight at all on my date. Not as unavailable, just doesn't show it. But it does show it a few days later. Why would it completely not show a flight on a certain date?

I screwed up... points not posted in time to cancel

I made a $5500 transaction on my Biz Plat on 4/21. My plan is to cancel this card due to: new $895 fee, higher $400 cost for AU, crappier lounge conditions, inability to use hotel credit, loss of Travelbank for the $200 credit, etc. (I would like a personal Amex which I can at least cover more of the fee.)

My AF posted 4/17 so I thought that would be plenty of time for the 11,000 points to post. But no, they don't post until the next statement date of 5/17 which of course is 31 days after the AF posted, and you only get 30 days. Grrrr.

I've seen elsewhere that you can downgrade to a green card and keep the points, is that correct? So do that for $95, then close it at some point? I do have another Amex (Blue Business Plus) so the rest of my 600k points won't go away and I can still use them. Thanks

Trying to figure out how to "earn points on Alaska partners." Is this right? Partners on these pages are Alaska partners? For example, this tab for hotels.
https://www.alaskaair.com/atmosrewards/content/partners/hotel
So IHG is a partner. But how do you activate these partner earnings? Do you select Alaska at IHG.com for points earning instead of IHG for points earning? Or do you have to book through Alaska somehow? It says IHG is "up to 2 points." How do you know how many? I wish they documented the details in a terms and conditions page somewhere.

I'm basically looking at how to use a "earn double points on partners" milestone bonus. I have an upcoming IHG booking at Villach Voco. So I'm wondering if I change my earning to Alaska will I get 4x points with that offer instead of 2x? The booking is over $1000 so I think I would get 16000 IHG points or 4000 Alaska with this offer. (Normally 2000 but doubled to 4000.)
