Someone explain my mother to me.

Her chart is the 1st. Mine is the second and third. We no longer speak as she was violently, emotionally, and mentally abusive to me. She had me at 19/20 and seemed to really hate me when I was younger. I don’t really know too much about her childhood, aside from the fact that my grandfather was an alcoholic. That’s all. I want to know why she is the way she is.

Moving to another country for school. Worried about finances

Hi. I got accepted to school in England (from the US). I’m currently waiting to hear back from financial aid regarding the funding I need for school. In the meantime, I’m thinking of ways to start saving for money. I work full-time at a place that I hate and unfortunately, my job does not pay a living wage and I am barely getting by. Even finding a part-time job has been beyond difficult. I’ve made the decision to start selling some of my pottery/artwork and I will be selling some personal effects as well. I know that things are slated to get better for me in November financially, but I need some guidance for now and the next two months.

Pizza Rec in BedStuy

Hi. I'm looking for recs from born and bred NYers that have been living here for 30+ years....

What's a really good pizza spot in BedStuy, kinda near the Franklin, Nostrand Ave, and Bedford sections of BedStuy? I'm leaving NYC for school after 9+ years of living here, and I'm sad to say that I haven't been as exploratory as I should have been while living here. Depression I suppose. But anyway, I'm leaving for London in the fall and want to actually really get to know BedStuy. I know that gentrification has ruined a lot, but I definitely feel like it still has some gems. I'm falling in love with this neighborhood and I want to make some more memories before I leave.

Hi. So we were sent our monthly statement earlier this week and were charged an extra $2232.32. When I called the office to ask why, they said it was because I had two return payments back in August 2025. Which is false. I sent them my records showing that all payments went through.

There was a situation where I accidentally paid with the wrong account and had to ask them to reverse it (I have emails proving this) and then I made another payment that was returned also because my initial error. I was finally able to make a payment that week, and it went through without issue. Again, I sent all of this information to the management company of the apartment building I live.

Just to reiterate: we do not owe anything. The payment I made in August was on behalf of my new roommate. So my share of the rent was paid, as was her’s. Every statement that was sent to us since then has shown that we had no balance.

Now, I sent all of this information to the office and was told that it would be fixed Tuesday. I called again yesterday, and the woman said it would be fixed that day. It is now Thursday, I’ve sent multiple emails and no one has gotten back to me. In my most recent email, I told them that we would not be making a payment until this was resolved as I didn’t feel comfortable sending them more money.

What else should I do? Should I get a lawyer? They just notified us 8 months after this supposedly occurred, which I find quite concerning.
