Bravia 8: Still clicking when off

Picked up a Bravia 8 from Costco a week or so ago and it is constantly clicking when turned off. Like every few minutes I hear the on/off click.

When powering on, i have to press the power button on the remote two to three times before the TV finally shows a picture.

Is this related to the firmware issues or do I have a dud? Thanks!

What’s a good price for a Weber Genesis?

Saw this at an open box appliance store. Seems a little pricey, but it is basically brand new. Thoughts?

Locking Tuners with Vintage Buttons

Has anyone had experience with the Fender Locking Telecaster Vintage Buttons tuning machines? I'm working on a late 50s, early 60s style Telecaster; I like the convenience of locking tuners (no screws!) and the neck I acquired has the modern holes. These look like a nice compromise, but I haven't seen too much about them.

The standard locking tuners can be picked up used for $50-60. The vintage button ones are tougher to find second hand. Anyone have these and find the upgrade worth it/ noticeable from the standard locking tuners? Thanks!

Starcaster in a hard shell Jazzmaster case… Does it fit?

Looking to get a case for my Jazzcaster and realized that I should try to find one that also fits my Starcaster. Is that possible? Unfortunately, the Guitar Center near me did not have a JM case in stock for me to try.

I have Fender’s gig bag that is marketed for offsets and it works great; just looking for a hard shell, flight-safe-ish case now.

Anyone have luck with a hard shell case for multiple offsets?

Flat Oval vs Modern C: is the only difference the radius?

Hi all,

I've been trying to find a neck for a project build and have been struggling with all of the different specs and profiles. Between the Player II, Player Plus, and the replacement necks on the Fender site, I can't seem to find a consistent answer to what the difference between flat oval and modern C is.

Only thing I can piece together is that Fender only uses the "Flat Oval" description when they refer to a 12" neck radius. Does having the wider radius change the neck profile? I'm so confused!

I really want a neck close to the Modern D found on the Ultras, but unfortunately I need a traditional 4 bolt heel, not the sculped heel on the Ultras. I was hoping that "Flat Oval" would mean a thinner neck with wider shoulders.

How many times will my package jump between PA and WV?

I’ve had some wonky tracking histories but this takes the cake. Two weeks of jumping between two states. Wild

Working on an Offset Partscaster- First Time!

What up! I'm slowly working on a Jazzcaster build based on the new Brian Fallon (The Gaslight Anthem) signature guitar (2nd pic).

I finally received my body last night! Squier Paranormal Telecaster SJ I got off eBay for a steal. Took out the pickups since I'm planning on swapping them with the Brian Fallon pups from Righteous Sound.

Any tips for routing? The humbuckers need 3/4" and I believe this body is routed for the jazzmaster pup at 3/8". I'm wondering if I should take it to a pro, or if I could do some work on my own. Thanks and excited to join the community!

Flat Oval Replacement Neck- Different sizes?

What up. I’m looking for a replacement tele neck that is on the thinner side, and I found this:

https://www.fender.com/products/roasted-maple-telecaster-neck-22-jumbo-frets-12-pau-ferro-flat-oval-shape?variant=45940707459294

Flat oval, 12” radius, 1st Fret - .752” (19.10 mm), 12th Fret - .830” (21.08 mm)

Unfortunately it is sold out. Checking the model number on Reverb, I find these necks, but with slightly different measurements:

https://reverb.com/item/83523314-fender-satin-roasted-maple-telecaster-neck-22-jumbo-frets-12-rosewood-flat-oval-shape?utm_source=rev-ios-app&utm_medium=ios-share&utm_campaign=listing&utm_content=83523314

Flat oval, 12” radius, 1st Fret - .820 (20.82mm), 12th Fret- .870 (22.09mm)

Did Fender subtlety change their necks? Why do they have the same model number? I’m so confused!

I really want a neck similar to the Modern D found on the Ultra IIs. If Fender’s numbers are correct, then that neck would be perfect. If it’s the other numbers, then hard pass. Anyone have either of these necks and can share some insight? Thanks!

EDIT: so it looks like they did phase out the Pau Ferro boards with Rosewood boards. However, the Fender site hasn’t been updated. According to Reverb, thickness increased slightly but is still the same flat oval profile and is thinner than an Ultra II (according to this site)

Wanted to get feedback on a wacky, first time-modder idea:

One of my favorite musicians, Brian Fallon of the Gaslight Anthem, has released a Custom Shop guitar with Fender. I can’t afford the $6800 price tag (wtf), but Righteous Sounds right here in ATX have released the pickups featured in the custom shop model.

For the past year, I’ve been eyeing the Squier Paranormal Telecaster and one just happened to pop up locally for real cheap.

Would I be able to throw those pickups into the Offset Telecaster and make my own 59 sounding guitar?

My hesitation is around the wiring. The Brian Fallon custom is wired in a dual stack configuration (with a 250k, 500k pot) while the Paranormal has the series/parallel and phase/out of phase configuration (with push/pull pots).

This is my first time ever looking at wiring diagrams and installing pickups in a guitar. Is this too much for a first timer? Would I have to completely gut the Paranormal? Or would I be able to have a Frankenstein of both? Thanks for the help!
