My.firewalla.net forces MSP plan selection on EVERY single login. Please let us choose once!

Every time I want to reach https://my.firewalla.net/entrance to scan the QR code and access my box, I have to:

  1. Log in with username and password
  2. Scroll past the plan marketing
  3. Click "Continue with Lite plan"

Every single session. This is hardware I own that used to be reachable through its own local UI with no upsell in the way.

I understand wanting to promote paid plans, and I don't mind seeing the offer occasionally. But forcing the same plan selection on every login is tedious and makes the product feel worse to use.

Suggestions:

  • Remember my plan choice so I'm not asked again
  • If you want to re-offer upgrades, do it periodically (every 30 or 90 days), not every session
  • Add a "Don't show this again" option

Anyone else running into this? Firewalla team, any chance this can be changed?

How to disable auto workouts?

Is that even a thing?

Over the last few days, my Apple Watch Ultra 2 has started randomly starting workouts on its own, and I can’t figure out why.

I’ve been wearing Apple Watches for about eight years, and I’ve had this Ultra 2 for over a year. This has never happened before.

I’ve already:

Ended the workout and closed the app on the watch. But it keeps coming back.

Verified the Action Button is not assigned to workouts.

Checked workout settings like Auto Pause and related options.

Despite that, random workouts keep starting by themselves and it’s draining my battery.

Has anyone else started seeing this recently, or know what setting could be causing it?

Not getting the “driver is on the way” notification until after delivery?

I’ve noticed this twice now with Walmart deliveries.

The order already on the way, but I don’t receive a text message or an in-app notification that the driver is en route until after the order has already been delivered.

Is that something the driver controls, or is it just a glitch with Walmart’s app/notification system? I’m just curious if anyone else has experienced this.

It’s frustrating. It makes me want to pull back the pre tip I gave if it’s actually the driver who’s responsible for this. Otherwise I could have been watching and it not be left at the door for 10 minutes sweating in the heat.

If the driver isn’t responsible for triggering the notifications, I don’t want to negatively impact them.

Water heater makes a brief rattling sound when faucets are turned on or off. Any ideas?

I’m trying to track down the reason for a rattling sound that seems to come from our gas water heater whenever someone turns a faucet or shower on or off. It also happens when the washing machine starts filling with water.

I’ve noticed it seems to happen more often with cold water faucets through out the house than hot, which has me even more confused.

The city checked our water pressure and said it was normal. Last week I also had the water pressure regulator replaced (it was the original one from 1993) to eliminate that as a possible cause, but the noise is still there.

We bought the house in 2018, and I’ll admit I’m pretty new to water heater maintenance. Until earlier this year, I had never drained the tank because. I followed a complete drain procedure and drained it empty, but surprisingly very little sediment came out and it flowed out well.

The water heater was manufactured in 2016. I’m assuming it’s reached its age to replace.

For the last few years, I assumed it was just water hammer somewhere in the plumbing. However, I happened to be standing in the garage one day and noticed the sound coming directly from the water heater closet, which is what prompted me to finally make this post.

At this point I’m wondering if something inside the tank could be loose.. maybe even the anode (sacrificial) rod somehow breaking loose and rattling around, although I don’t know if that’s realistic.

I have hammer arrestors on both washing machine valves too back when I thought it was pipe hammer. If I touch the hot water heater boddy when the noise happens, I can feel it as if it’s internally happening.

I’m attaching a video of the sound. My wife opened the guest bathroom faucet for me every 10 seconds so that I could capture the sound of it. Has anyone heard of something similar, or are there other likely causes I should investigate?

Big Worm in Almond Wood Splits

Started seeing these big worms while splitting my almond wood splits into smaller pieces. Been doing this a long time and never noticed anything like this before. This is the second one.

Walmart+ delivery drivers: which would you actually prefer?

Curious to get driver perspective on this. As a customer, I'm trying to figure out what's actually better for you all.

Option A: I schedule a regular delivery window and tip $5/$10.

Option B: I skip the tip but pay for $5 or $10 for Express delivery instead.

Obviously choosing Express and still tipping on top would be the ideal answer, but that's not really what I'm asking. I want to know which of these two options actually works out better for you, because if Express delivery with no tip ends up better for drivers than regular delivery with a tip, I might as well just pay for Express every time instead of tipping.

Would love to hear from people who actually do this work.

How is this possible? Misen claims their new stainless steel food containers are microwave safe.

https://preview.redd.it/oavl32r69i7h1.jpg?width=713&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3fe57fb185b1463baa56ad0600cdb2f124defd81

I came across a sponsored post by Misen for a Kickstarter pre-launch for their new product called Misenware. They are marketing it as stainless steel food containers that are safe for the microwave....... anywhere food can go like the grill, oven, freezer, and dishwasher.

I've always thought that you shouldnt put metal in the microwave. So how is this a thing?

I know that some older microwaves had a jack inside (maybe some still do) that you could plug a temperature probe in to.

The campaign page doesn't explain the science at all (not yet anyway...) just says it's safe and moves on. It doesn't launch until June 22nd so maybe the full page will have more info.

Is there a legit explanation for this? Some side reading I looked in to is that rounded edges with no sharp points supposedly reduce arcing risk, but I always assumed that just meant "it won't immediately destroy your microwave" not "it's actually safe and effective for reheating food."

Can you exclude or mask an area from AI human detection notifications?

I have a smoker in my backyard with a 5 gallon bucket sitting on top of the stack to keep rain out. On windy nights the bucket was rotating around the stack and I was getting hammered with 20+ person detected notifications overnight. My IVS smart plan with trip wires was flagging the bucket and stack movement as a human. I have since secured the bucket so it no longer spins, and I also dropped human detection sensitivity from High to Moderate, but I still got about 5 false alerts this morning.

Rather than dropping sensitivity all the way to Low, which feels like the wrong trade-off, I am wondering if there is a way to pencil in or draw an exclusion zone around that specific area of the frame so the camera simply ignores motion or detections in that region entirely.

I suspected this functionality exists somewhere in the IVS settings but I have not been able to locate it and at this point do not believe it is possible with this setup. Any advice is appreciated!
