Got reminded of the time I got to rename a No Man's Sky planet in tribute to Chris Squire

This was about 10 years ago; hopefully someone's found the planet by now, whether they understand the meaning or not. If you're a No Man's Sky player and you ever came across this one (I know the odds are beyond tiny) I'd be delighted to know, but either way it's nice to know it's probably still out there in the game!

I am so sorry, this is the dumbest thing I’ve drawn in a while but it wouldn’t leave my brain 😂

Thoosies that don't ride? [other]

I went to Alton Towers on Monday and had the time of my life watching the roller coasters in action. I can't ride thrill rides for health reasons, but I still loved being around coasters, getting to see iconic moments like the Smiler vertical lift hill and Rita's launch, I stood underneath Nemesis Reborn, felt Galactica's struts rumbling as the train flew past and basically had the perfect day out. Riding the coasters didn't even occur to me.

Which got me thinking: are there any other enthusiasts out there who don't ride roller coasters? Would I still be able to call myself a thoosie if I haven't ridden anything since Big Thunder Mountain as a kid but I know all the rides, I watch POVs as a safe way to interact, I read about ride engineering all the time, etc.? Or is there another term for fans like me?

Got some cool shots of the rides!

I can't ride thrill rides due to physical limitations, but I'm a roller coaster design nerd and getting to visit the park yesterday and see everything in action was a dream come true for me. I was amazed at how close you could get to the tracks (I particularly loved discovering that Galactica's supports are open to the public, and you can quite literally lean against the ride and feel the trains rumbling through your back) and I was able to take some great photos of the rides! I wanted to share them here in case anyone wanted to see them

Embarrassed myself today, feel like I should apologise 😂

So I was on The Curse at Alton Manor this afternoon (my first time on it, absolutely loved it) and there was a brief ride stop. I overheard the announcement as I was leaving, people were immediately speculating about it - if anyone was there during it, it was me 😅 I have a couple of minor mobility issues (I walk with a stick) and while I got into the ride vehicle with absolutely no issues, when I went to leave it I lost my balance, nearly got my leg a bit stuck in the exit trying to correct myself and had to ask the ride operator to slow it down a bit more so I could get off (he was very kind about it and stopped it entirely for me). Then proceeded to feel very embarrassed about it for the next ten minutes. So if you were stuck on Curse for about half a minute today, I'm so sorry 😭 The honest explanation is that I just suck at standing up occasionally

Ferry of the Damned shenanigans, anyone?

One of my friends had never played High Seas before (we've always done Safer Seas together) so on Friday night we jumped into a public server and had a great time sailing around, getting very lost (we thought we were headed to the Reaper's Hideout, got the wrong island and found ourselves taking part in an event), meeting another crew, having our ship stolen and then teaming up and letting them do Skies of Friendship with us.

Eventually we parted ways with our new friends and died, then discovered something - you can play your instruments on the Ferry of the Damned. So my friend and I spent the next 5-10 minutes just hanging out on the deck and playing songs together (mostly Infernal Gallop) while we chatted, then some poor person came through. Then came through again. And again. It got to the point where we were cheering this player on every time they returned to the Ferry of the Damned; we both really wanted to stay and see how long it took for them to stay alive, but it was getting late in our timezones and we both had to head off to bed. (If you're that player, please do let us know how you got on in the end! 😅) We did also notice another player arriving shortly after that one each time, and they were less chatty - we theorised that maybe they were killing each other repeatedly!

So I just wanted to share that really, because it was a surprisingly fun and very chill time hanging out on that ghostly deck with my buddy - if anyone else here has any fun stories of the afterlife, please do share them here! I'd love to hear them!

Getting the Gunpowder, Treason & Plot commendation

What's the best way to go about this? Skeleton ships seem impossible to find on high seas, and I've tried approaching a few other players asking if they'd be up for a quick "let's pelt each other with fireworks so we both get the commendation" but I've had no takers. The ghost fleet was no use either, and I'm starting to wonder if the ghost ships even catch fire. To those who've got the commendation, what worked best for you? (Btw I'll be trying it again tomorrow; if you see The Party Shark sailing around and you want to trade some firework shots, please by all means come and say hi 😅)

Can anyone help me identify these?

My local council recently planted wildflowers on an unused field, and they look gorgeous but I've been driving myself slightly mad trying to ID these purple flowers! They started off curled up, and they've slowly unfurled to this over the past few weeks. I've looked at a few ID sites and databases with no luck, so if anyone here can please help ID them I'd be grateful! (I'm in the North-West of England, but as the flowers were artificially planted they could really be native to anywhere with a similar climate)

Thinking of upgrading to an Honor 600, would you guys recommend it?

I'm a Google Pixel 8 user, but now that my phone contact is due an upgrade I've been thinking of getting an Honor 600. Would you say it's better than the Pixel 8? And overall is it an enjoyable one to use? This phone is good, but the one thing that's frustrating is the battery life - I'm a fairly heavy phone user (I'm an artist, and I often have the screen on for reference images as well as listening to music) and the battery has been getting consistently worse to the point where it's almost dead by 8pm.

I hopped on the Tomodachi Life bandwagon and made Rocky!

I didn't have a spacesuit, so Grace gets the cardboard box Temu version until that changes (I also have no idea how to use the shape tools effectively, so this was 3 and a half hours of me drawing Rocky by hand and regretting my decision)
