for example i can't help but think Eclipse (2020) basically just took Twilight Imperium (2017) removed some of the disliked aspects (minimum playtime 8hrs long), and doubled down on the fun parts (space combat)

TI is still one of the GOAT boardgames but I think publishers realized people don't want to buy games that are 8hrs long so its not their best selling game (fantasy flight even said this in their space cats documentary), so are more optimizing for wider playerbase

Now Arcs (2024) has come along and people say it scratches a similar itch. Bit of a creative destruction of newer games replacing older games of similar genres I suppose?

Another Example

Blood on the Clocktower innovated on the social deduction genre by eliminating player elimination (a mechanic every player dislikes) so that every player "still matters" until the end. The script building system is a design architecture that allows infinite replayability and community-led design. BoTC has pretty much left every other social deduction game in the past.

I have started to notice this pattern as newer games come out.

Modern board games are often just better than old ones, since designers often study past games to inform new games.

The only exception is when older games are renewed, like obviously TI has improved greatly since first version in 1997 to fourth edition in 2017 and remains a masterpiece.

I live in a downtown condo without electric chargers and drive less than 300km per month. Driving is usually for visiting restaurants uptown with a group of friends, going on dates, or visiting friends downtown

I WFH so do not commute and have grocery stores in walking distance so rarely need to drive; driving is mostly for leisure or nights out.

The main appeal for me in buying a tesla is to have a more fun ride, being able to focus more on conversations with friends / dates as opposed to having to focus on driving as I'm usually the designated driver of the group. I am also a general consumer tech fan so think it might be fun to hang in the car once in a while, listen to music or watch something.

My plan is to visit the Supercharger station on Bay St and charge once a month, similar to how I do a gas stop visit once a month.

Is this a realistic plan or it's gonna be more of a hassle / inconvenience to recharge than anticipated?

I understand range is a big issue in winter, would probably just not use my car or use uber when there is snow on the ground.

Cost Factors

Happy to pay the $100/month for FSD if it works

Cost / gas savings is not really a priority, since my gas bill is already less than $100/month; I imagine if i paid for charging it would be less.

I heard insurance is more expensive, I currently pay $150/month for a 10 year old car so I guess that's another cost to factor in.

on google flights the third party booking websites is significantly cheaper than direct with airline, its like a $100 difference for me.

curious firstly, how are they able to offer the same flight cheaper without it being a s cam? secondly if the it ends up being a fraud i can surely contact my credit card company for chargeback, correct?
