quick update to my post from yesterday about the conjoined twin crested geckos.

the other egg from that clutch ended up hatching, and the baby is completely healthy and active so far. definitely wasn’t expecting such different outcomes from the same clutch.

after everything that happened with the first egg, it was honestly a huge relief to see this one hatch normally.

nature can be really strange sometimes.

i’ve had a pretty unusual 48 hours with my crested geckos and wanted to document it here for insight.

yesterday, i cut open a stalled egg from a clutch that had been incubating since march 18th. the egg had recently started “sweating” but showed no signs of pipping or movement. upon opening, it turned out to be a case of conjoined twins.

today, i ran into a separate situation that caught me off guard. while doing routine checks, i found two live hatchlings loose inside one of my male’s enclosure.

for clarification, the gecko in that enclosure is a confirmed male. he hasn’t been paired or housed with a female, and i don’t incubate eggs in enclosures.

if anyone has encountered a similar situation or has thoughts on how this might have occurred, i’d be interested in hearing your input.

i’ve had a clutch of crested gecko eggs incubating since march 18th. one of the eggs hadn’t shown any obvious signs of development or movement compared to the other egg, and after a long stretch of no visible change, i decided to carefully open it to see what was going on.

inside, i found something i honestly didn’t expect at all… conjoined twins.

i’m still processing it a bit, but i thought the community might appreciate seeing a rare developmental anomaly like this. if anyone has seen something similar in crested geckos or other reptiles, i’d be interested to hear about your experiences.
