My 4 year old roof on my 100 year old house has leaked three times because of popped nails around three different vents, causing ceiling damage. Roofing contractor says it’s because nails sometimes don’t grip in old decking. Seems to me like that might be bs but, if not, are there any solutions to prevent this in the future besides removing the roof and replacing the decking? If that is the only solution, who should pay for it? I ask because it seems to me that potential should have been addressed at the time of the installation.
I’ll probably work a couple of years past 65 and stay on my employer’s insurance. How do I calculate whether at that point whether it’s better to return to my employer’s Medicare creditable plan or to continue on my current non-creditable HDHP and take the part D penalty so I can still make HSA contributions?
I will turn 65 one week before the end of 2029. Can I take a chance that I will not need significant outpatient medical care that week and delay start of part B and D to Jan 1, 2030, so that my premiums after an IRMAA appeal, if granted, will be based on my 2030 income?
