Should have not rented miata

Now I am obsessed with the miata.

This was automatic GT miata. Manual was not available from Turo, so I rented an automatic one, see I can fit in and what does it like to drive

Damn now I am spoiled and want it with manual so bad. The cornering and hairpin at the mountain roads, it was…truly amazing. Like this car was literally blowing my mind, almost rejecting all the common sense that I had on a car.

I cant sit straight because my head touched the hard top. But thats ok, I dont have to sit straight. Little lean was perfectly fine.

I currently drive x5, big fat suv. Super heavy, and now I experienced miata, I dont know. Since then I am browsing marketplace everyday every minute😂

Edit: oh my, the post kinda got popular a lot. Already looking for buying soft top. Will see how it goes. But yes, l have encountered several lifted trucks and I was scared, which I thought it was refreshing experience.

80 miles per day

After starting practicing touge, my mileage is around 80 miles per day. 100~120 miles on weekend sometimes, or more.

This leads to a point where getting decent used car/new car might screw up my wallet. Having the car for 2-3 years and stack up 40-50k miles doesnt look good and the car’s value will drop significantly if I get a new / somewhat pricey car. Gas price too.

Is it a time for holding back and seek something like simracing or stick with buying shitbox? I know its been only over a month for driving touge, but I didnt know that I enjoy too much on driving.

Edit: sorry y’all I had to clarify more on it: I dont care on the current old shitbox bmw 328i. I was originally planning to buy a decent used or new gr86. But if I buy it and drive shit out of it, including all shits my bank account will be drained. So… I was wondering whether do I want to stick with 328i and even when I need to change to a next car(i.e. repair cost exceeds car value), that next car will be also a shitbox or not😔

Of course it happened

Driving at 4 am, less visibility and vigilant, just a little over my comfort zone and just a little crash here.

Nobody involved, understeered and crashed into the bamboo shoots myself.

It was a right choice doing this with somewhat beater. Car still runs so I will continue doing touge with this car, but with more patience.

But not sure if I want it fixed or not until I get rid of this car; I was going to replace the car next year to GR86 or BRZ, but pouring money into a car that I initially planned to sell at like $2-3k just is not clicking the logical sound.

GM transmission

It has been three weeks having 2011 328i with n51 engine and GM transmission, and really second car doing spirited driving. My main car is X5 with ZF-8 transmission.

For the love of God, D mode in GM transmission sucks ass. I understood from driving 328i with D mode that why people would love to swap to manual. This experience was awful. Literally I had to put Sports mode if I ever want to do just a little bit of spirited driving. Unless I am cruising or stop and go city traffic, I just put it in Sports mode.

And also really appreciated how super fast ZF-8 was.

Is it because the car is just old with high mileage?(right now at 127k miles) Or is it just normal?🤣

2011 bmw 328i, bad choice?

Bought this $4500 several days ago. Just ordered new tires and am waiting for the tires to be shipped. New to the canyon carving road driving, and when I was trying to research on recommended cars, almost everyone was talking about e36/46, older cars

The thing was that it was impossible to find decent and runnable cars under $5k with RWD and ‘light’ weight cars. Some e36? Or 46 m3 was there but the price was like $25k.

Miatas were there, but I am not planning to learn manuals, so I decided to go with e90.

My plan is to learn and beat the shit out of this tossable car that somewhat runs and have working AC, and eventually move up to M2, cayman, or Supra after saving some money up.

Already have x5 as my daily, so I dont need daily but when I was searching marketplace, it was really difficult to find automatic rwd cheap ones out there. And figures out here like no one was really talking about somewhat modern bmw.

Was it a bad choice for touge?
