Source for heavy black plastic sheeting?

I have about 100 square-foot area in my backyard that is covered in goutweed. I’d like to try to eradicate by smothering with black plastic as I’ve seen recommended, but I’m not sure where to get the large plastic sheeting. Anyone know of a source?

Can I stop soaking my sweaty workout clothes if I use Febu?

For years, I have soaked my hot yoga and other sweaty workout clothes in Rockin' Green Activewear detergent before adding them to the wash with a non-enzymatic detergent. This has been effective in keeping them stink-free, but it's extra work and takes up space in my laundry sink.

Now that I'm more educated thanks to this sub(!), I'm thinking I can skip the soaking as long as I add Febu to my wash, run the longest cycle, and use warm or hot water. Is this true? Do people just wash their workout gear without presoaking? Even if it might be 2-3 days before it gets washed? I'm afraid to stop soaking since it's been effective, but getting rid of that step is definitely appealing :)

Middlesex DA race - Marian Ryan or David Solet?

Has anyone followed this race closely enough to be able to summarize the key differences between the candidates?

Is there a term for this? (White Mountains, New Hampshire, USA)

One of my favorite things about hiking is seeing the layered blue effect of the surrounding mountains. Is there a term to describe this? Photo is from yesterday near the summit of Mount Eisenhower.

What’s this key and screw for?

Recently purchased this new paddleboard (Surftech Lido) and can’t figure out the purpose of the white key and corresponding screw above and slightly to the left in my photo. What am I missing? Is there an accessory that can be attached there somehow?

Gently declining request to get together

An acquaintance recently emailed me after learning that we have vacation homes in the same area and both enjoy the same hobby. She suggested meeting up in the vacation area to chat about the hobby or potentially do the hobby together (I’m being vague here out of an irrational fear that she’ll see this post and know it’s me.)

I have no interest in spending any time with this woman. She has a very prickly personality and completely rubs me the wrong way. I don’t know her well but have come in contact with her a few times over the years and each time couldn’t end the conversation soon enough.

I’m also turned off by the way she declared in her email that ‘we should do this and do that together’. She and I do not have an existing relationship, so if anything I feel like it would have been more polite/correct to have asked ‘would you be interested in doing this or doing that?’ Maybe I’m being overly sensitive on this point, but I feel like she’s forcing herself on me.

How can I gently but firmly decline this request to spend time together? I want to be clear that it’s not just a timing issue and she shouldn’t try again in the future. I’m a recovering people pleaser and want to nip this in the bud.

Why can’t I grow basil?

My basil always gets pale and slightly shriveled. I’ve never been able to get healthy looking, darker leaves. What am I doing wrong? This is in a raised bed with good drainage, full sun. Zone 4b. Photo shows a plant that I just put in a couple weeks ago but in past years my plants have always looked like this (pale leaves that lack that full/rounded shape).

Looking for low-key ideas in central Tokyo for day 1

We're arriving next weekend and looking for some chill itinerary ideas in central Tokyo for our first full day. Three of us arrive Saturday late afternoon, and the fourth (our 23-year old son) arrives Sunday afternoon. We'd like to hang out not too far from our hotel in central Tokyo on Sunday so we can get back to the hotel easily to meet our son when he arrives, and also want a relatively low-key day since we'll be recovering from jet lag. The Imperial Palace east gardens are definitely on the list for that day. Any other recommended activities? Just wandering the streets, window shopping and taking in Tokyo for the first time is an option, but would love some guidance on specific streets/areas. Not interested in art museums. I'm feeling conflicted about the fish market - I know everyone says it's a huge tourist trap, but is it worth checking out once?
