Do we need to be this precise when charging?

Maybe it’s always been like this, and I never notificed? Either way, this could’ve been rounded!

It’s 10pm the day before Father’s Day and I’m wrapping my own presents to give to the kids to surprise me with.

This morning during brunch, my wife hit me with a shocker- the kids gifts they worked on a sent away to be finalized had gotten delayed in shipping. They made some thing, sent it t somebody on Etsy, and either the postal service changed the tracking from “out for delivery“ to “indefinitely delayed”.

“The kids will be distraught!” she says. I told her don’t worry about it- they can just give me the handmade stuff they always work on. ”no, they were really looking forward to giving you a present!”

“I got it,” I tell her. “Use my unopened Lego boxes and give it to them to give back to me“ (like many of us all, I have money and passion for many hobbies, but no time for them all- still, I buy the games and movies and toys to find that magical day that never exists to devote myself entirely to my hobbies).

Potential crisis averted, and now the Mrs. and I are wrapping up my own gifts that I bought months ago for Fathers Day tomorrow. I really hope I like it!

moral of the story: go ahead and buy that thing you love but you won’t have time for- maybe it’ll have another use someday.

Community wide rummage-sale with EV6 keeping it cool!

We had a community wide rummage sale, and I finally had an excuse to use the V2L adapter! Kept the car in Utility mode the entire time to keep the kids comfortable while they waited, put their Switch and tablets on the chargers, and recharged my Ryobi batteries and ran box fans. Eight hours of use and my battery went from 88 to 80% in 90°+ full sun.

600 mile road trip, 0 preplanned considerations or worries

Just completed a 600 mile round-trip family vacation in Texas in my 22 Premium Extended RWD.

Didn‘t use ABRP or Plugshare, didn’t use any third party charging apps like Tesla or Chargepoint- just put the trip in the navigation, picked my preferred stops (Buc-cee’), and used the Ford app to authorize and activate the chargers (Mercedes-Benz/ChargePoint at one Buc-see’s, Tesla at another). Cruise controlled 80mph to 90mph the entire way (people say 90 is too slow for TX Highways, but Im not going to ruin a trip by messing with TX State Troopers), used aircon to make me and the family comfortable, and didn’t worry about a thing.

When the GPS found some traffic up ahead, it routed me around it and recommended some chargers to hit as the reroute would go around a whole city. Hit those up too with nary a thought, and it only put us behind schedule 30 minutes.

Sure. I spent at least 20 minutes recharging at each Buc-cee’s, but with two kids and a two adults we were going to spend a minimum of 20 minutes there anyways.

All that to say for those who worry- roadtripping in a MachE is more than doable.
